We had a chance to visit one of my favorite groups of Veterans and have a little breakfast... we might have wrapped a few in Quilts of Valor as well.
The three gentlemen sitting are Korean War Veterans, one also served in Vietnam .
Sometimes its hard to get a good photo for us, everyone of these Vets family and friends were taking photos. And that is OK!! I love that they get the attention, but I also at least want a photo for me haha!!
Two of them were Marines - they told me that they were friends - so we made sure to have a matching pillowcase for them. They got a huge kick out of that and it made their day. Their wives might have just grinned at me at the joke!
The next day I had a Shoot !
There is a Veteran that we ride with who is one of the most amazing people I know. I had been scheming for a while to figure out how to present him a Quilt of Valor. Its funny - I rarely get flustered any more - but for some reason, presenting this in front of all of our friends gave me a little jitter - and when I went to hold the quilt up - I just grabbed the two nearest cowboys and enlisted them 😀
He has a dog that is so in tune with him, He ran up as he felt the emotion - which was perfect.
we had a little quilt for him too!! It was a fun addition to the presentation!
Remember Wednesday is our QOV QAL *The Ribbon * - if you didn't know and want to join in -

Wonderful, touching QOV presentations.
Your presentations are always so special.
These photos are so emotional! How wonderful you were able to surprise your friend.
It is a great honor for all who participated in the presenting of QOV. Your special presentation held such personal meaning for your good friend and his four legged companion. Recently, I decided to join the QOV quilting community. So far, I have 2 completed. My First was your Stars Over Spaghetti pattern and it went to my sister in laws brother. The second is a special QOV project with Quilted Twins, Dade City FL, for veterans in Lakeland FL. Fabrics for "The Ribbon" are ready for another QOV, and with this pattern, I will be asking a few good friends to join in and sew at their own speed.
Thank you for the encouragement and inspiration to honor those who served our country.
Sunshine and Smiles,
Donna
Your post just warmed my heart!! And the little quilt for the dog - what a priceless idea.
I love that each veteran gets a special quilt and that they often end up reflecting their personality. Thanks for caring so much for them and for sharing in Sew & Tell.
Wonderful!
What fantastic presentations!!!
What a blessing these men are to our nation. They are true heroes . It was a joy to see the photos and presentation of these quilts , Alyica. Enjoy your day. Hugs.
This post is amazing. It brought a lump to my throat; and the presentation to the pup put it over the top! Well done!
It's so nice seeing so many veterans get a beautiful quilt. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like he really appreciated the quilt. Love the little quilt for the dog too!
Your QOV posts get better and better each time. I love the matching pillow cases for the the marine friends. And gifting your friend's dog a quilt added a special touch to his presentation as well.
I love this so much Alycia, and especially his little dog getting a quilt of his very own. How special! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings. Your horse is beautiful!
