Yellow RSC Diamond chain done and ! Finished ( or not) Friday!!

I am starting to see a theme around here!! Lookie what else I just got finished!!

March's Yellow rsc quilt - And I mean it is finished... as in all bound and everything!!

The girls were too busy chasing each other to come pose with it - so I let them wear themselves out.

I think this one measures about 50 x 64 ish??? I can't quite remember, and I really did measure it before I loaded it on the machine. I really like the texture of the quilting. I used a f dream puff  - so its really soft and  drapey.

Its listed in my etsy shop  - so maybe it will make someone's day :

Now it is your turn!! Link up your direct post  - tell us what you finished, or didn't, and how its going!!

Vietnam Veterans and their Quilts of Valor

our Quilts of Valor group has been *working* with this groups of Vietnam Veterans for 6 years now - and over that time we have awarded 126 Quilts. as they continue to grow - we continue to award more quilts!!

I met the President of their group when I was the State Coordinator for Colorado, so even though they aren't really in my area - I have kept them!!! ( and the group the is closer to them is okay with it - we talk a lot!!)

I was able to award Quilts this year - we did 13, but somehow not all of them made it to the photos.

I really love this group of Veterans. They are just the sweetest kindest group. And of course they make me smile. When I came in one of the gentlemen who had received a quilt last year came up and said

I just love when you come - your smile is contagious.  Doesn't that just set the tone for the day!! Love it so much

13 More veterans honored!!!

Do you remember the Happy Half Square project of 2020?  Well!! My guild has decided to do a little Block making for QOV - so I chose Block 3 for them to make .

We are going to make them at 12 1/2 inches - so if you want a little leader ender project.... there you go - I will use 4 inch squares to make the half squares and trim to 3 1/2 inches before setting them in the block...and I would be glad to take what you make!  Same colorway as Block 3 !!

May's Green Diamond Chain Top - aka Emerald Chain

Mays Rainbow Scrap Challenge color was Green.. I did not make the May deadline.

I finally did get the top finished tho!! so yay!! Now it is in the to be quilted pile, and it still has a deadline. this quilt has a destination!!!

Of course it had to be o the green green grass.... that I forget gets pretty hot when the sun shines on it. The girls were ready to pose, but Bella stepped on the grass on got right off.  I am glad she knew to do that!

I also finished some of these scrappy blocks:
51 of them. I was going to make my wonky logs, but some of the pieces were so small - I went with these crumb blocks instead. What will the become? I have no idea as of this moment! they measure 4 1/2 inches.

I was quilting a T shirt quilt for a client - I think this was my favorite shirt in it haha!!

My Last Shop Hop day...

You  might need a glass of water for this post.... I have words people.... words!!!

we had three last stores to do on the shop hop. As I've said before - I haven't done  a whole lot of quilt store shopping in a while - but two of these I had been to, and one was brand new ( okay two years old )

and you know.... we had to include other things in our trips.... Candy was fun, but this one - we had to get grain, go to the auction to see what farm pieces were being sold the next day (if it was worth K's time to drive and hour to it) and check out the hay that was going to be for sale  as well...

After the *work* was done - we got to business!!

The FIG LEAF in Ft Collins was the first stop - another lovely store with a huge selection of things....

I found this:

Me!!! Who Dreams in Red White and Blue finally purchased something patriotic!! don't you love it? K and I had watched Top Gun the night before - so maybe that influenced me??

Next up was THE SEWING CIRCLE - also in Ft Collins but in a new location ( new to me - she said they had been there 8 years - I need to get out MORE !)

This is not  good photo - but its a jelly roll of puppy things and prints from Ruby Star!! it was so cute. They had a lady doing demos as well with this waterproof vinyl like stuff and also with vegan leather - we use to call it pleather ....

So on to LOVELAND colorado to Wild Oats!  this was the new one - apparently the owner got interested in sewing during the pandemic. He couldn't find masks for the guys in his company so he started sewing them and became... addicted!!

He has a great fun shop - a lot of fabrics that I hadn't seen at other stores ! It was also our last stop on the hop. we got the finishing kit for the shop hop quilt and our photo taken.... kind of felt like royalty!!

Ta da!! The finishers!!! (among thousands of others I am sure!!)
aoh!! this is what I found there!

Remember all that western fabric? I found this piece and I think it will make an awesome border to the quilt I am planning in my head!

and I found Christmas Dinosaurs - remember I have an archeologist? I will make his something out of this.

Shop Hopping towards the Mountains

We had two stores to hit in Longmont (1 hour away) and 1 in Estes Park - so we thought we would make that a loop.  Storms started to roll in, so that was as good a time as any to get shopping....

First was the Presser Foot -

I had never been to this store - but it was wonderful. The ladies were so nice and they had a wide selection of fabrics!! they also had a TON of machine things. Longarm rulers and books too.

I hve been Long Arm quilting for 23 years now ( oh boy!!) so it was fun to look at the new rulers and books that I had not seen. I think you tend to get the stuff you need when you start - and learn to make that work for you. I did find a fun Layer cake to follow me home tho!!

then we went just a tad south to Maggies - I had been in there a LONG LONG time ago - I'm thinking like 12 years ago ? I went with a friend to drop her machine off for repairs - and lookeee at the cute Fat Quarters:

That dog one reminds me of Daisy when she realizes I might have chips in my possessions and maybe she could have one!

From there we headed to Estes Park. Oh my favorite mountain town - and can you believe I had never been in that fabric store? Peak to Peak !!! My new best friends....

If you are into wilderness, wildlife, mountain out of doors - this is the store for you!! I got this panel - and K says it must be in a quilt by winter.... oh the pressure.... the stress...

now if you go to Estes  you must stop by the Taffy Store - the original Taffy Store - its the best!

My oldest sons Birthday is this month so we sent him Taffy online from them, and he called as we were heading up and said - you HAVE to try the Cherry. of course, that was a special of the day when I had ordered his - so it wasn't available the day we were there.... they had LIME... OMG - LIME - it is awesome!!!

I want it all....

then we had to head down the mountain to go do chores....

But I have THREE more shops to go!!

A Mystery with no Name and Finished!!! ( or not!) Friday

A while back Lisa S, in one of my QOV groups - asked *Who wants to do a Mystery?*

I thought - sure - but there was a catch!!She wouldn't post the next step until at least half of us had it done... and I thought Oh Heck!!  I had to get moving - I didn't want to hold the whole group up.

The pressure worked! Got the top done - and just got it in to quilt!!!

isn't that fun? She had said to do scrappy  - but I had scrap large pieces - so I used that - and I like how it turned out! the Patter designer is Lisa Sutherland - You might have seen some of her patterns and she has a book out Patriotic M&M&M Quilts

Whoop whoop - glad to have another one done!!!

How are you all coming on your finishes? I had a goal - I wrote it down, now I can't fid the paper - so I am going tohave to search!!

Now it is your turn to link up!! I love that this is growing - tell all your friends!!

Continuing on....

My husband.... he is a peach - truly - he's pretty up for anything and can always make things fun. When he heard the shop hop was taking us east he started researching places to fish. We don't normally go east to fish - we normally go up to the mountains.

and since we had the girls - we wanted to find a fishing/hiking place....

so!!! after Holyoke - we headed to North Sterling reservoir.

its kind of hilly and open and has a few bluffs - and a HUGE body of water. There were campsites and day sites... so K got his fishing stuff out and off we went:

see the fishing pole holder - they weren't so good at posing with it - i think they prefer quilts. Also - they had to be on leash - we have those extended leashes so it always looks like they are tight - they are not.

Isn't this so well maintained? we had an awesome hiking trail, and K could peel off towards the water... we only stayed a few hours as I had one more store to hit on this loop - and we had to get home to do chores.

when we got ready to head out - Bella decided she would prefer the front seat. She lost the battle - K needed to navigate!!

One of you mentioned that your dogs were not socialized. Well - neither our ours really - we live alone, and kind of remote - so this was a great trip for them. We kept the e-collars on as a behavior backup when we weren't in the car, and they were always leashed. I did not take them in the quilt shops  - we took turns sitting with them.

Bella wants to hug everyone, and she saw a tall boy at one of the stops and about went nuts thinking it was her boy ( my youngest son)

Next up was Inspirations Quilt shop in Ft Morgan!!

the last time I had been to this shop it was a cute one on main street ( this was the largest of towns on this leg of the hop at 12000 population) but!!!

Since I had been there they moved - to  HUGE place - they had 3 longarms set up and a class space and batiks.... crazy amounts of batiks..

You know that is not where I headed tho:

are you sensing a theme in my last purchases????? haha!

this is the Shop Hop quilt - at each store you get a block pattern - the three stores out east you got two block patterns - i really like this one!!!

So we have 6 store left to do before Sunday - I think we have a plan to get to them - and a hay sale, and an implement store haha

Eagle and Hearts

I just loved the stripey of the hearts and the stripey of the panel and so...

I went for it!!

After taking its photo - I have decided to add a 3 inch white strip to the top and the bottom  - that will round it out to 62 x 80 ! Perfect QOV size!!

if you are looking for the hearts - head over to MMM quilts they are called glowing hearts and she has the pattern there.

We also did day two of our Shop Hop - K and I went east!!! to Julesburg to MDQ Designs. Julesburg is not really a destination town - its a part of the Pony express  - so historical - but I am not sure what else is there. Now I don't need to worry - MDQ Designs was worth the drive!

they had 5 different rooms of Fabric - and they are building on so you can have retreats there... and classes and it just looks so fun.

I found this layer cake and maybe a few more things??????

But who is counting right?

Julesburg was 2 hours from us, and then we headed south ( i think ) for bout 30 minutes to Holyoke!!

We stopped at Creative Traditions - another cute shop - and right on the main roads so easy to find. ( these are smallish towns)

All of their Quilt kits were on sale - so I might have come home with one - as well as this fabric.

K actually picked it out - I think it was his was of saying "stop buying live cows.... make a quilt!!"  that had to be it right/

we stopped there for lunch and let the girls play in the park a bit:

we also found a lemonade and cookie stand!! the little kids were quite cute. We were the only people in the park and one of the girls was hollering like the peanuts and popcorn guys at a ball game - cracked me up!!

I will tell you the rest of the day tomorrow - I don't want to bore you too much!!

The Backs ( and maybe a front)

The backs of these quilts look so cool!!!

Don't they just give so much to these?  I really love the way they llook!!!

My friend rescued this retro panel - the cats are so cute. So she cut them all up and added the sashing. Its a great quilt . ( and the front as promised in the title)

I finally finished a book. This one was rather hard to put down tho - i don't want to give too much away - but there is a HUGE twist in the end. I got it on Amazon Kindle here: The Perfect Marriage
