Design Wall 1/16

I am still working on my Yellow MC Quilt. I know that it is not all yellow... but I was using the black as an accent color. When I was done with what I thought was going to be the top - I didn't like it..... so Wrangler Man and I looked at it, and he said - more black!!! I have added a little black border, and an working on a yellow bigger border.....

Since I had my yellow out, I had started making yellow string blocks. I DID NOT want to put the yellow back into my stash - especially now that I am doing the stash reports..... LOL  I figured that I might as well add borders to the string quilt as well.....

This was my EQ drawing of the Yellow MC quilt - I liked it in the drawing, but I think that by going as scrappy as I did, I probably lost a lot of the color value that I liked in the drawing.

Color Values are not my strong point, so I have learned something - just don't ask me to tell you what at the moment!!!

Design Wall ( err Uhh Floor)

My Yellow Monochromatic Quilt

is on my design floor. I finished all the inbetween blocks and have it all laying out. Every time I look at it I move a block or two around, so this afternoon it had better be ready. It is pinning time!!





Over Christmas I drew up a 2inch rail, 5 rail - rail fence pattern in my EQ7, and decided that I was going to use that for our January QOV sew in. Then I started cutting up my Red White and Blue fabrics. Then, I realized that not all of my strips were the needed 42 inches. So instead of cutting everything down to 8 inches, I decided to sew everything UP to 42 inches..... so this is my pile. I got enough darks sewn and recut for 2 kits. 

Today it is on to the lights!!

Saturday it started snowing, while I was sewing two of the boys needed a project, so they put together my bench for me!

I had thought this would be great next to the front door, so I could sit down and take off my boots before tracking all sorts of stuff into the mud room.

Here it is Saturday afternoon - this morning it is COVERED in snow.....

Design Wall and More

The Design Floor!

I really want a design wall - but we don't have walls with out huge windows. I tried a temporary one with batting and it worked for a litte while - but it was hanging from the sliding glass door.... made it hard to see out of the house, and I need to See. A. Lot. Hence the windows!! 

Anyways - this is my Monochromatic Yellow Quilt in Progress - and I claimed the floor - and so far no one has complained. 

 This is my other project today - My Mom and Dad got me new pots and pans for Christmas!! Whoo Hoo - now I will admit that I don't cook anywhere as well as Judy does, but my other pans were our wedding gifts, and they were getting old..... so sad.... thats means Wrangler Man is getting old too .....

 When the tempature got up to about 15 we thought we could probably brave sledding and snowboarding again. We went out Saturday when it was 8 and only could tolerate about 3 runs, today we lasted about an hour and a half.

Here's the 3 amigos.....

 Super Ninja Snowboarder, and he carries a snow disc, just in case he falls..... kinda smart thinkin'

The weeds jumped out of the snow jump and caught the edge of his board.... crash!

 Puppy had to get in a sled too - he LOVED it.... kept running up the hill to go again!!

 And my boots!!!  my other snow boots were getting old ( about 15 years old) and Wrangler Man bought me the coolest new boots - and my feet were WARM!!! Usually they freeze beyond feeling within 30 minutes.... this new technology is wonderful!

And last but not least - Emma - We sledded - she hunted up snow drifts, and chased us -this is our field to the west of our house, if you look closely you can see the rockies int he background!

Monochromatic Challenge at Patchwork Times

I love other people's mono chromatic quilts, and I ohh and awe over them, and I am not very brave, because if I was - I would have made one about now right? But Nope - I haven't. I have been reading Judy L's blog - http://www.patchworktimes.com/ and she is going to host a MC challenge, so I decided to try it.

And of course - the first color picked is Yellow. Yellow. Hummmmm. In all of my Red White and Blue, and my Hotpink and Lime and Turquoise quilts - I am not sure I have purchased that much yellow to make a whole quilt.

My goal with this challenge was to use my stash, and not add more. I headed downstairs and dug thru my stash - and Um. Was. Uh. Mildly. Surprised!!!  Look at all of this fabric that has shades of yellow..... I am astonsihed!!

 This stuff to the right - I think it grew wings and flew into my stash - seriously. 

After sorting and ironing, and cutting the smaller pieces up into strings - this is what I have chosen to work with. Wish me luck!

I have been playing in EQ7 and think I came up with a pattern to use, and grabbed by AccuQuilt Go cutter - because I have one, and I should use it ALL. THE. TIME.

I turned on the Rose Parade and starting cutting. After the parade I braved the 8deg weather and took the dogs and the kids outside. We made it thru 3 Snowboard runs, before we couldn't feel out faces anymore - we came back in and I finished cutting the quilt.....
