Presentations of QOV's

One of the groups we work pretty close here with in Colorado is Homes for our troops. We had two key ceremonies this last month and here are the You Tube Videos of them.

In Capt. Glavey's video - the quilt was made by Jessica V and her girls in Denver and quilted by Liz Taylor Davis in Broomfield.

In SSG Schar's video the quilt was made and quilted by Marilyn in MO

QOV Show

Good Morning!!  Are you all ready for this weeks online Quilt of Valor show?

I have a little story to tell... especially about this quilt ( below)

This quilt was made by Judy V in Thornton ( or as I like to say - Broomfield). I got a call the other day about a specific lady veteran who was struggling. I won't tell you a lot - that's not right - but I will tell you that I LOVE that they know where to find us!!

I met her for lunch. I sort of walked in with this specific quilt tucked under my arm, and sat down with her. We talked for a while, and then I decided it was time to present her with this quilt.

It never ceases to amaze me how the right quilt finds the right owner. As I talked thru my little spiel, and unfurled this quilt, she was amazed. They are her FAVORITE COLORS!!! Don't you love it!! 

Not to be forgotten - these other three Quilts of Valor are made by Judy too! This makes 12 in 2012 for Judy V!! Way to Go Judy!!

 Anyone recognize this one? ( below)  Here is the pattern- isn't hers wonderful??

Judy found this one on Moda Bake Shop - Hopefully she will comment and remind me of the pattern name...... I will admit - I forgot....

These next two beauties come from San Marcos TX !!  Charlene made these and they are lovely!!

I think these were both Mystery Quilt patterns ran my MysteryQuilts4Military @ Yahoogroups.com - They run great Mysteries over there!!

This Great Strippy Quilt comes from Marilyn in MO - I love the little pieces in between the longer strips - great idea!!

This next beauty was made by Norece. I think I am in love!  isn't this just beautiful. As a matter of fact - it is on my sewing table right smack now, getting it's label put on it. Veterans need to know that Norece made this one - and LABELING  is Very Very Very important!!

The next four quilts were made by Sue E in Arizona. She is like the master AccuQuilt Go cutter person and makes the coolest quilts. I think this one is the Blue Ridge Beauty pattern from Quiltville.com - and they were scraps she cut using the go cutter!!

This one is a MysteryQuilts4Military quilt pattern too - great huh!!

I believe this one is Marjorie Busby's QOV Pattern ( Sue if I have them backwards let me know!!!)

And this last one is one that Sue designed in EQ7 and used her go cutter for it.

And the last picture for today - Blocks!!! From Barb in NJ!!! I love these blocks!!!

Christmas Cheer

Remember this picture from yesterday? - some of you were right - they were making little bags. 

Our 4-H group got very busy making cookies, 

and the High School Nat'l Honor Society got very busy getting Christmas Cards signed.

So we went and offered a little Christmas Cheer at the Warriors in Transition Battalion.

We took a little trip thru the barracks and handed out 400 Cards, and 95 bags of cookies.

Only one soldier was on a diet, and it wasn't a female.  ;-)

Monday!!! and a finish!!

I know it is supposed to be design wall Monday... but I have a Design Wall Monday FINISH!!!

Whoo hoo!  I looked at this pile that had been accumulating next to my machine, and I thought I had better do something about it.

This is the pile..... *sigh*

Finish # 1 - the yellow binding. If you knew how much I didn't like to bind, you would be giving me a standing ovation... seriously.....  because after binding the yellow one, I grabbed that one with the blue stars.... and  bound it too......

But I can't show you that one quite yet, because - it is a Christmas Present... yes, yes, it is, and yes, it was buried in a pile.  it could have worked for Christmas 2013 too.... no one would be the wiser  .... 

And here - what are my men up to? Can you guess???

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!!! Did you know that Christmas is just 9 days away?  Guess what happened yesterday? Wrangler Man and I broke down and went to town.... we shopped. We are now ready - bring it on!! 

Of course, others were scrambling with carts full of good stuff, and we were still in the ...hmmmm.... what do they want phase. It was rough. So we had to stop at Texas Roadhouse for sustenance!!

I found this on facebook and have never laughed so hard. So I am passing along the laughs to you!!

And because I am in a little bit, a tiny little bit of a cleaning mood.... I am giving away this assortments of Magazines. My sons thought I was depressed, because I was giving scraps away, and magazines... I had to explain I am not depressed .... my spaces are just undersized.

And then I told my oldest that when he moves out I will be re-sized again, as I will have his room.

He did not find that amusing at all .... Wonder why?

Captain America

In our house Super-Heroes are the name of the game! .... and this quilt came in to be quilted.... the boys DID NOT want to let it go!!

As a matter of face, they tried to convince the topper - Jessica - that they would be happy to keep the quilt for her!!

Here is the full view of the quilt.

Notice the border fabric - it is ALL Captain America.

In the middle of each of the Cream colored sections, I quilted a Captain America Shield.

You all know you can NOT have Capt. America without his shield!!!

And in the Blues I quilted a lot of swirls.

The Big Captain America Border got Shields quilted in it, 

and the smaller borders received their own treatment. 

My favorite is the center of the cream fabrics. That shield was so fun to do, and of course, all the men in my house thought it was awesome.

The back!!  You always have to check out the back of a quilt! 

Especially when the back is a solid color.

And just in case you didn't get to see the Captain America Shield.... here it is... one more time!

This quilt was pieced by Jessica at JMV Quilts in Denver, and of course, quilted by me!

New England Quilt Festival ( AKA MQX)

The New England Quilt Festival has released their show catalog, along with all their classes, and quilt entries - and OH BOY!!! It looks great.

How many of you enter Quilts into shows?  I have not done many, but I am stewing on this one.... I wonder what I have to offer to this great quilt show?

I was so tickled when I found out that NEQF wanted to do a block drive for Quilts of Valor!! I am so very tickled and excited!!!

QOV Online Show

I might have mentioned that I went and spoke to the Columbine Quilt Guild?  I didn't put anyone to sleep!!!  They are a great guild, and this year ( 2012) they made 7 Quilts of Valor.

Ta Da!!! Here they are!!! They were made by various individuals and groups - but all of them say Columbine Quilt guild. 

As with all quilts - I am in Love with them. I got some great ideas for my scrap pieces....

I really was intrigued with this one ( above) the strings are cool and in a great placement.

Oh Look!!

A Smile!!!  Don't you just love it!!! I do!!!!

This next quilt was made by Sue S and quilted by Donna P ( LtC USAF ret)

of Colorado Springs 

This one was handed off.... from someone... to Merrie... to Me... and there is no label. no note, no id... so... I made it in the middle of the night!! I am impressive right?  Just kidding - I am thinking that it came from someone in my Denver group????

These Next Two quilts were made the Miracles group and Quilted by Sue S in Colorado. 

 They do such a great job, teaching ladies to make quilts... and I just love that they help our QUilts of Valor!!

The Very last one for today was made by Agnes in New Jersey and Quilted by Teneka in Co Spgs..... Her quilting doesn't show much on the front......
