We had a horse event up in the mountains of Estes Park - It was a two day event, so!! we decided to try something new for us. I pulled the horses and the girls - K pulled the camper and off we went.
You start at 5000 feet and go up to 8000 + feet - so its quite a climb with two horses in the back, and all the winding roads - I couldn't go faster than 40mph, and truthfully, didn't want to. I want to keep my horses safe. I don't think the speed limit in that canyon is ever above 40 - so we weren't impeding traffic, we also we not winning any races haha!
we got up there ( about a 2 hour drive) and got the horses all settled in their pens and fed, so they could get their mountain legs .... and took the girls for a walk around Lake Estes. That is some Gorgeous country!!
Staying in our camper was fun, but there is not a lot of room. We did take the girls crates, as they sleep better in them, so we kept taking them down, and putting them up - they are the foldable kind. But it made us laugh that they would prefer to be with us all the time - and sort of thought they were human too!!
This was our first time using this camper. We did learn that there is not enough room for both of us to cook. Worked out great for me - K loves to *Rough it * cook haha!
Those of you who camp and have campers... any storage tips, ideas for loading/unloading, organizing tips?
We have a little shelf over our bed, so I was thinking I could made some fabric boxes that fit, that we could put our socks, undies, etc in . Maybe that would help organize and we would know what to grab?
I saw these towel holders - but do you have enough room in the bathroom for this?
I also saw these hampers - Maybe an Idea to transport our clothes?
I made a list of all the food stuffs we would need, and had K check it over. Still!!! I forgot his Miracle Whip and Ketchup. Notice I said HIS!! ha! I can live without them - him... not so much....
This was one of our views!! It was a great little get away - we had a great time on our horses, K won some, I won some, overall a great weekend. Oh!! I made it down the canyon too - that was a little scarier that going up. I didn't want to overheat the brakes, and I didn't want to smush the horses.
They kissed me when we got home - but I think it was a happy kiss - not a Thank Goodness We Survived kiss.

Sounds like a great trip. Sorry I know nothing about campers.
Goodness that scenery! That is a good looking plate of food. There are pens for your horses at camping places,? Or were the pens part of the event? Looks like the puppies were so happy to be with you.
We bought a camper van 1 1/2 years ago. We absolutely love traveling in it! The space is very limited so I have storage bins for our clothes and food. Everything has its place and is very organized. There just isn’t room enough not to be. I also keep a check list of foods and items we need to bring every time we go. That way we don’t forget stuff. We take our cat who doesn’t enjoy it at all! She doesn’t come out when we stop for the night. My husband does the cooking and I do the clean up. Yes only one person in the kitchen at a time! Enjoy!
Sounds like a fun adventure in spite of forgetting the Miracle Whip. LOL I have no hints for camper organization. We rented one briefly when the kids were little. My husband hated everything about it, so it never happened again.
Down does seem scarier than up, even when hiking. Looks like a great time to me!!
Sounds like a grand adventure! I love walking around Lake Estes - and I recognize that view of Long's Peak, too. Glad you had a good trip, and so did the horses!
What a great adventure! You are on the right track with organizing considering making some fabric boxes to hold small stuff that is easy to grab!
We try to use the propane bbq, a small one that travels inside, and has a bracket on the outside of the trailer rather than the indoor kitchen as much as possible. Paper plates if campfires are allowed are easy cleanup;).
That is an adventure for sure! I can't picture driving there and back!!!
Smart going slow on those mountains. We live/travel in a Class A with a tow. Slow going always smart! Fabric boxes are good but do you have a place to store them or do they go back into the house? We have folding ones we got from Walmart years ago and they slide right under the bed when not in use.
