Gratitude

it seems every November I start a Photo of the Day project, or a Thankful Project. This year - I am going to work on Gratitude. I decided I would take saying of Gratitude, either written by me, or some that I find that inspire me, and overlay them on some of my favorite photos.

Here is Day 1 : Its an old Barn ( still being used) that I saw in Ten Sleep Wyoming:

Day 2:
Hiking in Northern Colorado. I am not sure if this is still used or not, but it looked like it could be.
Its for loadin cattle into a truck. You put up a temporary gathering pen, gather the cattle from that pasture and then can load them in a trailer,

I love your pictures and your thoughts! I totally agree. Someone from the UN or a world expert said that if someone in your family has a mode of transportation, you are rich. It could be a bike or a mule. If you eat three times a day and it is more than one kind of food, you are rich. If you have a change of clothes, you are rich. If you have a permanent shelter, you are rich. So, it doesn't take much, does it? Twelve years ago, my husband and I had just retired. We spent this next year teaching at a university in China for BYU as adjunct professors teaching English to graduate students. Many of them wore the same tee shirts each week. We learned that many of their parents had never left their villages because every penny went to save for the son/daughter's education. We saw housing for migrant workers go up in two days. On our travels we used restrooms we still cannot forget. We saw dwelling places in this rich city where we taught that were so extremely humble that I wondered by I used to worry so much about the former 'poor' students I had taught in the US. Before we went to China, I loved my middle class US home. Once in China, I realized my US home was a palace. I could have hot water anytime of the day in the US and I could turn on the heat in the summer if I wanted. I didn't need to wait until November 18 even though it got cold in the latter part of October. We just really live in so much luxury! Even the poor among us have so very much compared to world standards. Call me very grateful! Donna

Sometimes we get so busy it's hard to take time to reflect on the the good things in life. Beautiful black and white photos.
