PotHolders and Puppies

A group that I am in issued a challenge - out of the box Potholders... or something like that -

The intent being to make a potholder/MugRug that is not in the shape of a square or a rectangle... which as you know - is what shape I turn just about every block into...

I got out some scraps and got to piecing - and even piecing weird scraps - it turned out pretty rectangular.

So I sliced it, and curved some edges - and this is what I came up with.

Even after making the slice, I still note that I tried to square it up - I guess my brain sees flat edges better .... but!! I had more fun quilting it....

That is the quilted side... and then I ironed it to flatten it out a but - Curved edged and binding... seriously - it took me a gazillion, Million quilts to semi tolerate binding quilts... and now - I throw in Curves... oh my!!

What have I been drinking!!!

I hope someone in our Challenge group likes it..

and now for the Puppy part - Man they grow quick!!

She sits so pretty!!! She is driven by food and fetching... well I am not quite sure it is really Fetching - she loves to chase the throw toys - its about 50/50 if she brings them back... but she is getting it...

I think we love her...

Sometimes you need something mini and fun to shake you up a bit. Your mug rug turned out pretty cute. Your puppy is pretty cute too. They do grow so fast that first year.

Your potholder is pretty! I would struggle with that assignment - lol. What is your adorable puppy's name? She is so cute, will she be a big dog?

Great potholder. I love the yellow thread quilting. Yes, puppies grow up quickly. Enjoy all of it.

I am all about symmetry so the odd shaped items is hard for me, too! You handled the challenge brilliantly!!! The pup is a beauty--I love the dignity of her pose at her age now!

The quilting on the potholder is really lovely and I think you came up with a fun shape; I'm sure someone is going to be delighted to receive it. And golly, puppies do grow up and into your heart quickly, don't they?

Such a cute puppy! The potholder turned out great. I like that shape. I've been going crazy with the hexagon shaped mug rugs lately.

That is a fun potholder! It's amazing that is so hard to make something not be square - but I would have trouble with that, too. And such an adorable puppy - she is definitely growing!
