Row by Row Design Wall (ish)

I have been collecting these license plates - and purchasing some of the rows of the Quilt shops.  I really Liked the row from Sew Downtown - our local quilt shop.... so I have been trying to find a little time to work on it.....

The pieced are coming together.
I will tell you -  I have made a few pattern corrections to this one -
Not enough of some squares cut... some not the right size...

Do you tell the shop?  Or just carry on?

And Look!!
My Mom and Dad are helping me out
They took a little trip
and I might have texted them some of the shops along their route......

This was Utah ;-)

Champion

Fair is now over!  My son had two quilts entered in the fair - one through the 4-H and one through the Open classes... he cleaned up ;-)

So here is his open class quilt:

Its actually bigger than that - they folded it in half.
Which was quite humorous - the kids wanted to see the whole thing...
and kept pestering moms ;-)

And yes - that is a champion ribbon hanging in the corner

The quilt below is his 4H Quilt for this year.

They had it folded as well
And yes that is a champion ribbon as well
He was quite tickled!!

So we brought it home and hung it up
( and look - I switched ribbons!! I better go fix that)

It is fun to see people enter their quilts and learn about the feedback.
He got some very helpful comments
One was about the matching of seams.
Glad they told him that - Mom doesn't know anything lol

Natural Bridge

Many years ago this land was a part of my Husband's Family Ranch. His Great Grandpa deeded it to the state to be a park that all could enjoy.... and so.... we went to enjoy!!!

I tried to imagine what you might have seen years ago through the lens.... It was fun.

This one is my Son's..... he might have an eye for color eh????    He entered this photo in the fair and won third place. I was impressed.

This week may not be a very quilty week for us - who knew that just preparing for Fair week, could put everything else in a bind. The chore list Wrangler Man left us with, makes us want to put a pillow over our head...... so.... don't tell - we are watching Huckleberry Hound a little bit this morning.... to re-energize us.... ( Yep - that's my story!!)

More 4H

This is kinda an In Process Post...

My Middle son is in Quilting for 4H - This unit was to design your own quilt.... so he did.

He had fun, I think he enjoyed the drawing more than the actual piecing.... and LOVED the quilting. He likes my power tools.... ( R'oh, Owh, Rowh  _ think Tim the toolman taylor)

Even though the Accucut was out....
I made him learn the rotary way for the borders.
He used the Accu-cut for the Flying geese though
That is a fun Die!!

Then he put it on the Long Arm
Ignore the vacuum in the back - I was deep cleaning while he was working
And then we remembered he needed photos for the record book...
Oops

Below is his finished top
It is before quilting....

We will get to the fair a lot this week
So we will see how he did.....

And get a finished quilt photo.... we sort of forgot that as we ran to the interviews
