There were 7 of us - Dawna ( Of Dawna;s Design Threads) Deb, Kaje, Sheree, Ethel, Charlene and Me .... and we all walked away .... ha ha
We had Machines from the school - so I set them up along one wall ( Outlets are a priority)
And we set up a cutting station in the middle of the room ( outlets not a priority!)
One of our happy stitchers!!!
and we set up design Tables
We weren't allowed to put anything on walls - so this worked well
We used the double Slice Block
and it was supposed to be 9 1/2 inches
But! We know how stitching isn't always the same on each machine
So Dawna ( left) trimmed all the blocks to 9 inches
Perfection!
Each Stitcher... had help!
Lots of help
Don't you love the FFA patch?
The Trimmings!
and the coolest part
If you teach a kid to stitch - they want to teach the other kids to stitch
It was awesome!!
They worked so well together
We got 1 total top done
and then we have one that just needs one more row stitched to it
We got a ton of blocks made - enough for at least 2 more tops
maybe 3
and the kids rocked!
They even bought us pizza!

The quilt top looks amazing! I bet the kids were proud! Glad you all survived and had fun!
Great group of kids. Look what they accomplished! I love that you didn't have to fret over different size blocks and just trimmed them down a bit. The quilt top looks great!
I just knew this would be a good thing!!!
Congratulations Alycia and helpers. This is a very fine thing to accomplish and with such a large group! I so enjoy seeing young people embrace sewing and when they do it for a cause I am passionate about I applaud! Yay to you, your helpers, and the FFA!
Congratulations to all your students and you on completing the task at hand and learning! Love their jackets and the fact they want to wear them. We have a very large county fair here, and despite the city of Buffalo and urbanized suburbs, there is a rural component with young people who particpate in 4H and show their animals and crops. I love talking to them- they seem a lot more engaged in life and have clear purpose and know how to have a conversation.
How awesome!
What seeds you sowed -- skill, craft, compassion and sharing! Looks like a wonderful day all around.
FFA is wonderful for the kids - they learn so much!! They obviously rocked the sewing lesson yesterday...five quilts worth of blocks!!! WOW!!! Great job, teachers!! The kids teaching other kids is what saved the teacher in a one-room school house!!!
Looks like it was a great day!
I know it was exhausting but what a fun day!
Looks like you had plenty of helpers and stitchers! Congrats on all the progress.
