I also might be pretty fond of my camera - So I forced my family into the car and we headed South to a lake. I had heard there were a lot of birds there, and a lake hike.
I always warn my family - if I don't like it I will leave, but if you don't like it - you are stuck with me till I am done ( it works too - sometimes I have to bribe with a dinner out.... but not too often)
The hike around this lake is 9 miles
and yep! I packed a lunch
The day we decided to go it was Gorgeous!
It started out cool
and then got up to about 50 degrees
Aren't those skies amazing?
This is really what you saw in the camera
The last 2 hours of our hike
the temps started dropping
and these clouds moved in
it was just awesome
The play of the clouds in the sky and the colors
and by the time we were leaving the sun was setting and the whole place just changed
by the time we got back to our house
the temps had dropped into the teens
and snow was starting
We picked the absolutely most perfect day!!
and the boys did chores!!
And I quilted ( yay)

Those trees are amazing. Looks like a great day for a hike.
You said you'd heard there were birds and I think I saw some but noticed you didn't focus on the bird. Yes, those blue skies were gorgeous but the ice and even the 50 deg. would've limited my time outside. Has to be a LOT warmer than that to get me out (like around 69 or 70! LOL). Glad you guys had fun!
What a perfect day for your family to go to the lake! Amazing skies...I love how the blue sky and clouds totally change the appearance of the landscape. I love the naked trees reaching to the sky and the reflection in the water of the trees and sky. The western United States is a beautiful place to live, no doubt about it!
Those guys are pretty terrific, hiking for food AND doing chores all in the same day. Colorado does have some beautiful skies.
You really showed the beauty of Colorado that can be found out on the plains, not just up in the mountains! Thanks for sharing, Alycia!
Wonderful lake photos! What a great day. Love those trees!
Absolutely gorgeous photos! It has to be above 60 for me to venture out, I'm a wimp. You were definitely rewarded for not being a wimp and spending some time in the great outdoors.
Wow, Alycia, these photos are gorgeous. I can only imagine how beautiful it was in person. Which lake is that? It looks like a wonderful hike that I'd like to do with my peeps later in the spring (with my Lupus, I can't be out in the cold for hours).
Lovely lake, tree and sky shots ~ wonderful!
Happy Week to you,
