January Color Palette Revisited

For some reason I just couldn't let this sit, I mean I did, I folded it and put it in its tub, and then I thought... if I don't make a decision this will be in my 2013 UFO pile... and Lordy Lordy - we DO NOT want that to happen!!! So....  Here is the palette ... It is picture of the print out, the better version can be found at vickiwelsh.typepad.com    ....

and this was ( well it still is) my top.... I just wasn't sure if it should have borders, or be left as it is.. I have no idea if this is staying here, or will find a recipient , or become  Quilt of Valor... you just never know with my quilts.....

I posted a couple of pictures with a border - Here  , and I got a lot of great suggestions to try, and I tried them all... and then Cheryl  said to try orange,... and I thought - she it joking me right?

So I emailed her back - and said really? Your not just teasing me? Your not just making me admit that I have orange in my stash too?  Your not just giving me busy work, cuz you know... if your serious I will check it out....

And she WAS Serious... and I layed it out on the ground, and I hemmed and hawed... and then Big Bit came in, and he said ... MOM - that is too cool, and I still left it... and then Wrangler Man came in - and he said ... WIFE ... I love that Orange..... ( okay he really didn't say Wife... but it looked good in type)

And then Little Bit, and Middle Bit came in and they said .... Ohhhh MOM that is great... so I was sold... and I bordered it last night - and NOW I am done.... until it comes up in my quilting list!!

A closer look - because after I used the orange - that lighter purple looked good....

And now... I am going to go have breakfast because Wrangler Man cooked!!

Wow, I thought the orange was going to be a joke, too. I like it, with the purple. It is not traditional, but it is not so far out that I would not want to give it away, either. Glad you were brave enough to try it.

Wow! I never in a million years would have tried orange, mainly because it's my least favorite color but wow! It really does work.

It's amazing how the eye looks beyond the orange to the center of the quilt. Who knew orange could play so well with others? Nice job:)

The orange definitely added some POW!! I would never have come up with that on my own either.

Great choice!

Seeing your quilt prompted me to search for a color wheel and print it for my sewing room. Thanks.

Wow... who'd a thunk it? The orange is PERFECT!!!

Perfect choice! Some of my best color combos have happened because of some scrap that was still on the cutting table or a pile of fabric waiting to be folded and landed next to a block. Funny, huh?

Oh my, this is great. I also would never have thought of orange but I really do like it. And I'm glad you put that light purple border on to finish it. What are you going to bind it with?

Excellent! One less UFO! I love the orange border and I think this would be a great QOV.

I would never have thought 'orange' for the inner border, but it works. Way to go!
