Batik Spools and!! Finished!! ( or not) Friday!!!

I am finishing this one at the VERY LAST minute - but you know what!! it still counts!!!

As I was binding it ( yes - do not pass out - I bound) I was telling my son about the mini shop hop three of my friends and I did - and I was thinking it was maybe a year ago.

It was not. Because!! I started this quilt in October 2022. oops....

I don't think I meant to let it marinate that long?

As of Today - It is done!! and hanging on my Quilt ladder in the front room!

Ta Da!!!!

Sorry for the indoor photos  - By the time I had it finished ..it was time to do chores, and!! windy!! and Cloudy - so! it became an indoor moment!

I backed it with flannel - of course - SHARKS!! what fun right? I was sort of thinking this looked like a winter quilt with those batiks - but maybe it is an ocean quilt with the Sharks?

The block is called a Spool Block - and maybe the pattern was at Mary Quilts!!? Its a jelly roll pattern and super easy to do....

And just because:
My Goofy girls  - posing in front of a few of my horses.

NOW!!!

  3. That's a beauty, Alycia! I love all the different blues together, and the great block design that gives so much movement. And then your backing fabric just made me smile! Happy Friday!

  5. Another lovely finish, Alycia and yes, unusual for you to be a little longer in finishing this one. Meanwhile, that is my normal!

  6. Amazing finish! I would be interested in this pattern,(if you remember where) looks fun to do. I tried searching for it on MSQC but only get thread spool block.

  8. Terrific! Even if it did marinate for a little longer than intended, it's a great finish. I love the all-blues color scheme. Congrats!

  11. I love those spool blocks. I've seen a few patterns but none with the quarter squares as the middle. I like ocean / summer quilt, especially because of the batiks and shark backing.

  24. Ohh, I have to agree with Sara (from "My Sewing Room" whose link brought me here), great quilt and great design! Mary Quilts is always good for some easy to do but very appealing designs. Adding yet another idea to the "To Do" list. Hope you've had a great Memorial Day weekend!
