Whoo Hoo!!! We have made it through 28 Happy Half Square blocks and I have really enjoyed myself! These have been fun to sketch and play with. I am sure there are a million more to make - but - I am done for 2020!
And that Kat jumped on board and volunteered her time to create full quilts was WAY COOL!! Plus - she taught me some things about working in EQ7 so that was cool!!
We have had some new followers and they keep asking what size the blocks are - so I just want to say - they can BE any size - you just need 16 half squares of ANY size and bam! you can make these blocks.
I am using 5 inch squares to start with, because I still ( sigh) have a HUGE box of them!
So here is Block 28...
I love the sampler! That would make a great two-color quilt as well. If you used 2-1/2 inch hsts, you could make any of these a QOV quilt. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteBoy! That last block replicates into a BOLD quilt design!! SEW... How many quilts WILL your 28 blocks make, Alycia? Great project, by the way! Thanks for taking us along on your HST adventure.
ReplyDeleteAlycia, you know that you are an excellent resource for not just QOV patterns but for lots of HST ideas. Wishing you continued creativity in the new year.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome layout! I stopped mocking up because I knew I wouldn’t get to making these any time soon! But it sure was fun making my dream top!
ReplyDeleteI really love the sampler quilt. I have a lot of HST blocks, but some of yours are new to me so I am saving those. I am using 1 1/2 inch squares that I have had for a long time. They made really cute 4 1?2 inch blocks. These will be turned into Star blocks though with these blocks as the center. Thank you for sharing all these blocks with us.
ReplyDelete#2 and #5 are my fav's this time. Something unsettling to my eyes in the secondary patterns in #4. But WOW! Quite a production, and maybe there is a really tall vet that would like a whopper size!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of when I was young and single and had a Viet Nam vet boyfriend. I made him a quilt, my first actually, and laid it out on the floor, and stretched out on it, hands over my head, to measure for size. Seemed fine to me (he was a good foot taller than I). He loved it, but ... the next time I saw him, he said, "honey, the next time you make me a quilt, please make it longer. My feet stick out and they get cold!"
Great job on the sampler 'quilt' and for remembering how to do that in EQ!
ReplyDeleteThose Half Square blocks are really awesome. What fun designs! What size do you typically make your Quilt of Valor quilts?

Fabulous! They all look wonderful together and will make a couple of great QOVs
ReplyDeleteWow! Some are new to me and some are nice oldies. I sure can't pick a fav. Who knew you could arrange 16 HSTs so many ways? Well, I guess you did. What a fun project. And it was fun to see the different quilt layouts for each block. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun 2020 project and one I'm sorry to see end. Looking forward to checking out the QOVs that come from these blocks.
