Sunday was a pretty special day !! We had our Quilts of Valor Sew in and then got to award 6 QOVs
This group was pretty cool : 5 of them are Vietnam veterans , 1 is an Iraq Veteran and the son of one of the Vietnam Veterans .
All of the Vietnam Veterans were friends , and 2 are brother in laws.
All were amazing to listen to .
I love being able to honor our Military this way , and I love the people I get to quilt with !!
We also spent some time putting together new tops - here are some rows we got finished :

Wow -- lots of quilts were presented. Great job. After seeing Sara's and your RWB rail fence I'm thinking it would be a great way to use up some scraps/fat quarters.
ReplyDeleteGreat presentation! I recognize the quilt in the middle! The new blocks will make a very nice quilt!
ReplyDeleteWonderful way to spend the day! QOV is one of the best things I've been involved in - such an honor to award these beautiful quilts to these veterans.

ReplyDeleteOur guild is planning a QOV presentation in November . Great job to all! Congrats veterans, and thank you for your service.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the presentation
ReplyDeleteThat RWB rail fence version is on Sara’s blog too. I really like it. A great way to use my patriotic fabrics for a good cause. The picture of all the veterans in their quilts was special. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Alycia! I would have loved to have heard those stories from the veterans. I enjoyed hearing what my father-in-law was able to share with us, which wasn't a lot, as he was in communications. I surely do miss him. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to spend the day!
