I have a friend.... she has a sister.... her sister wanted to make a Quilt of Valor.
I gave her the info and BAM! She got to piecing!!
She brought the top to me ....
and... it is now quilted - and ready to go to our Sew day to get bound!!!
Ta Da!!! Susan's Quilt of Valor!!!
I just loved this one - I think a lot of the hexie pieces were fussy cut and they are so cool!!
It was such a fun quilt - that I just added simple stars to the quilting - and tried to blend the thread...
And this is the back I chose for it!
One of my grain buckets blew so I bundled up to go get it before it ended up in Kansas - I grabbed the handle as a gust blew - and I swear I became a kite!!! I am SO not a fan of wind!!

That is such a fun QOV! She did a really good job with it. The wind is insane and cold, insanely cold for April.
ReplyDeleteOh, gosh. That's a beauty...hexies that form stars that have stars in some of them...so much to look at I could spend all day looking.
ReplyDeleteVery windy here too and that usually means toppled trees and big branches to clean up here and there. Ugh. Wish it would get nice enough out to do some real gardening.
Oh, and as for Easter meals - we usually always have ham and deviled eggs but the rest of the sides vary from year to year.
Very nice quilt of valor! All those wonderful hexagons, and your lovely quilting. A real labor of love.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful QOV, and I love her fussy cutting. The backing is perfect, and of course your quilting is awasome!
ReplyDeleteWe've had gusty winds for a couple days and more forecast today. it makes our otherwise perfect 65 degree weather seem colder!
Wow, what an intricate QOV!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lively, beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible work of art!
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome QOV! Perfect backing and quilting!
ReplyDeleteThe wind has been wicked the last few days! Hoping for relief today so I can spray baste my Table Scraps Challenge project!
No Finishes this week for me!
Ugh! The Wind! I'm with you... not a fan of wind! Be careful out there. Put some rocks in your pocket or something... We don't want you blowing away. Great QOV. <3
ReplyDeleteWhat a great QOV! A lot of work went into that.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful QOV. Love all The Fussy cutting and The quilting Too. Congrats
ReplyDeleteI love Susan’s quilt! I love hexies! And the Star quilting and background are just perfect! What a great gift this QoV will be!
ReplyDeleteWow, beautiful team work! Beautifully pieced, Susan! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Alycia, you did a great job - it's a great quilt! Take care and stay grounded :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the hexi QOV. Glad you didn't blow away.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very pretty quilt!
ReplyDeleteWe must be part of your wind! gusts of 30, have to hold the doors so they don't fly open---and it blew the tops off two of our bee hives---the bees can only fly 20 mph so hopefully they can find their way back home.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was going to be a kite too--even though I was just walking to my truck--I remember feeling like Mary Poppins with an umbrella in my hands.
Great quilt Susan made. You should try driving in those winds. I had high winds while driving for several different days, across several states. Very 'tense' driving conditions.
ReplyDeleteShe did a fabulous job making that quilt. Cudos!
