The first thing I got finished this week - was this field!!! Just in case you can't see - those are bales of hay. They are now baled, and loaded in my trailer. FINISHED!! Whoop Whoop!!
a little close up!
Isn't that just so sweet? Now that I have that finished, and the hay ... I have been told it is time to mow fire breaks..... Is that fair????
Now it is your turn....What have you finished???
Show it off and let us Ohh and ahhh over it!!

When we first moved out here to the country over 30 years ago we always used to see bales of hay out in the fields. Slowly over the years the fields have been devoured by houses so I don't see many hay bales anymore.
ReplyDeleteHooray for a finish! Double Slice is cute. I keep forgetting about that pattern when I'm looking for a quickie kid quilt.
wow how big is the field and what is a double slice quilt? it is a sweet quilt
ReplyDeleteRanch chores done and a quilt too! You are awesome! I suppose fire breaks are necessary! It’s been so hot and windy a grass fire would be devastating!
ReplyDeleteOh how I love that quilt! The colors and pattern are right up my alley.
ReplyDeleteDo you bail the hay? So impressed. I only drove Hubby's tractor once or twice, and it was fun. We had a mower on it and he used it for most of the 5 acres. He says he doesn't miss it though - lol!
nothing like a day on the ranch for a gal! bale hay and then go quilt
ReplyDeleteOh, I do love the colors in this quilt-nice and sweet! good job in cutting the hay!
ReplyDeleteI'd offer to come help with the mowing, but I don't mow! But I do sew bindings on, so maybe I can help in that area? LOL Cute quilt.
ReplyDeleteHi Alycia, I guess that farm chores are never ending but at least there's always some time for quilting and blogging :-) As always thanks for the linking party - and that is one lovely quilt! Take care.
ReplyDeleteLove the soft colors and flowery quilting motif in the Double Cut quilt. Sure it feels great to get that field cut and baled also.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is lovely but as a farmer, I'm excited to see the hay bales. I know you've been in a drought so I'm very happy for you to have baled hay. I hope and pray you are able to bale hundreds of bales more this summer.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! My mother always said work first, play later! You learned the same lesson, I see.
ReplyDeleteWhoop Whoop, Alycia! You have been busy. I have always loved the smell of freshly baled hay. Fabulous quilt too. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteAre those the little hay bales, like we used to have in the olden days (40+ years ago) or those new huge rectangle bales that one person can't lift? I used to either drive the truck (slowly) while the male folks loaded the bales, or handed out water. Boy was that a long time ago (preteen years).
ReplyDeleteDouble slice turned out so pretty! And I see you made a gingham quilt too; aren't they FUN?
ReplyDeleteThey do say that farm work is never done! Baling hay is a chore but the reward of playing with fabric is a good one. Sweet quilt.
ReplyDeleteYou are one hard worker. (You put me to shame!) Your little Double Slice quilt is darling. And taking note -- yea it's finished! Wait, you have to mow fire breaks too? Ok, it makes sense to have those done considering the time of year it is. Your quilting will be waiting for you.
ReplyDeleteWOW, that field is gorgeous! I rarely get to see so much open space. Only when I leave the crowded suburbs!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the hay and the quilt! No finishes for me this week, just popping in to say hi or hey!
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt, but I think I'm more impressed with the bales of hay. Well done! ☺
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!
