January was the Month of Pink -
And! I got 10 Placemats done - 5 are bound, the other five will get there.
I laid them out all pretty like - so we could see the variety
and the Hubs decided it was time to start feeding!!
Don't you love our feed buckets ?
I had to tell him I was just Soooooo busy taking photos -
he should start feeding without me!
He bought it!!
A couple of you asked what I meant by stitching them at the end of a quilt
this:
I make sure the backings are about 20 inches longer than what I need - and then I can quilt the placemats while the backing is still on the frame.
This is what it looked like when I cut them off
This is what they look like on my machine ;-)
I also get to use scraps of batting
This will be the end of the Pinks!
Off to see what Februarys color will be in our Rainbow Scrap Challenge
and linking up to Table Scraps as well!
Such a productive month! Hope that you are able to finish some yellow placemats next month.
ReplyDeleteBind while you watch a couple of movies with the guys. That takes the chore out of binding. Nice placemats.
ReplyDeleteWhat a smart idea to add a little extra backing and use that leftover batting while it's still on the frame, Alycia!! Thanks for linking up with the TABLE SCRAPS Challenge. I'm SEW happy that you decided to quilt along with me!
ReplyDeleteIt's YELLOW! Your way of quilting the placemats is excellent - Chris used to do that same kind of thing to use up the extra batting instead of having it pile up in the corner of her studio. Such great placemats!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty in pink. Do you get to keep the placemats or do they have a new home? Very smart to have them tag along with the bigger quilt. Congrats on all the finishes this week.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection of placemats and a fun way to use up scraps!
ReplyDeleteYour pinwheel placemats turned out wonderfully! What a great way to quilt them, too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great finish! I was thinking it would be a good project for me to take on to give to our local Meals on Wheels program. Wouldn't it give someone a great perk to get one with their meal every once in a while?!
ReplyDeleteWhat a productive month! I'm taking your great idea to add extra backing to the next quilt I quilt. That way I can easily make some samples of the different quilt patterns I do on the longarm. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see a variety of fun placemats. What size are your placemats?
ReplyDeleteLovely pink placemats, are you donating these for meals on wheels patrons perhaps?
ReplyDeleteThose are the cutest Alycia! If I had a long arm!id try to make use of the extra batting too! If I remember correctly, at least some of your placemats are destined for Meals on Wheels. Is that right?
ReplyDeletevery pretty and a great idea to use the same backing - hope I remember that
ReplyDeleteIs there a pattern for the quilt the placemats were quilted with? They are pretty but IT Is Stunning !! Take care and be SAFE from Iowa theredhenshop@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on ALL the placemats. They will surely be appreciated since Valentine's Day is coming shortly, not to mention they are beautiful any time of year!
ReplyDeleteLove how you quilt them along with another project. Your placemats are very cheerful. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteYour pink placemats are totally awesome!
