I am Sew Excited to be participating in the VQD Online Quilters Meet and Greet
I have been around for a while - so you may already know stuff about me - but Maybe.... just maybe you will learn something interesting???? ( about me ha ha)
This is me and my Wrangler Man - we have been married a lot of years now - he almost has me trained.... okay - maybe it is me that is training him?
I started blogging in April 2006 - after I started a pretty cool project - then called Quilts for Soldiers - you may know it as Quilts of Valor. I had been working with 5th graders in our town for 2 years and was looking for a public way to share our project - and I studied Blogging..... and was hooked.
Some of the kids I taught and their Quilt of Valor |
I am a long arm/machine quilter - that is my full time job - and I love it. My official quilting website is Quiltygirl.com
I also write patterns - especially Mystery Patterns for Quilts of Valor, and uses with other Military. Most of those I post here, and then have them in my Etsy or Craftsy sites for easy download. Isn't technology great? ( PS BIG PLUG - A New MYSTERY STARTS SEPT 5th!! COME BACK!!)
This would be one of my most favorite quilts - It is called the Betty Quilt. My Great Aunt Betty's family made the original - in the late 1800's - and it is in the Michigan State Quilt Museum. I saw it and I was so drawn to it - and truly - this quilt may have been the start of my love of plaids and homespuns... that has totally gotten out of control ha ha
If you click on the photo - it will take you to all the Betty Quilt posts if you are interested in reading about it
This is another of my favorite quilts - We made these Wonky Stars for a QOV block drive in 2015 - and a few stars just didn't turn out the right size- so I started playing with them - and this is what I came up with.
The star pattern is still on my blog - up at the top - there are tabs - click on the Free Patterns!!
What else about me? I am a lover of Hiking, and fly Fishing - I try to get my kids and husband out and about as often as we can. I also LOVE photography - Sometimes I share my trips here - and try to get a good photo or two.... and We love to ride horses, we have a small little ranch in Northern Colorado - so getting up and chasing cows is a fun morning to us.

My Horse - she is always making fun of me |
Don't forget: September 5th - We are starting a New Mystery Quilt - It is called Mosaic - and the Fabric Requirements will be posted on my blog - we would love for you to join in!!
