Planes Planes and CropDusters

A few weeks ago we heard a noise.... Puppy and I.... so we headed out to the deck - and saw the Crop Duster!!  I ran back in - got my camera - and I swear that CropDuster pilot posed for me!!

Puppy just barked at him.... and lot!

Don't you think he was posing? I really do think he saw me - and I loved it!! I was sorta hoping he ( or she) would land and say - hey let's go!!

Check out the prop - I froze it!!
Whoa!

And you all know -
this takes talent

>

Look how low he gets!

I thought this was so cool
He was coming right at me, and then the Sugar Beet truck went by

To cool
and so representative of our agriculture!

Just for fun
Looked like the tree had ears!

I know its not quilty
But it was so cool

They come every year - but I don't always get to see them
and not everything is always so green!

Enjoy your day!!

  1. We used to call our crop duster "Huff and Puff", as he made his way from field to field, near our home in Delta, Colorado.

  4. Your photos are certainly unique. I don't live in a rural area- I love them, but hate driving distances for everything. Love what you shared today.

  5. We have them in the South, too, for the cotton crops and more. I think they are cool! Some people here call them air tractors but they'll always be crop dusters to me.

  7. You had a perfect view of your very own air show! We see them often when we're in town as it sits in a valley and there is a lot of farming. I'm pretty sure we could touch the belly of their planes if we stood on the roof of the truck. Cool shots!

  8. I too enjoy the crop duster when he/she does their thing. Often lines up to go down after trees and up before the trees which here in Northern Ohio there is tree lined fields. It is banana yellow and often sounds running kind of ruff. Imagine what it takes to keep it fueled and loaded and maintenenced. I often think they enjoy being appreciated for what they are doing. Thanks for sharing your crop duster.

  9. Wow - perfect timing and so much talent. Wonderful to see even through your great pictures. I haven't seen a duster since I was a child...my area has been engulfed and citified. Thanks for sharing.

  10. My dad flew crop dusters back when I was a kid. He did stunt shows, flew an air taxi service. Anything that paid. Good memories.

  11. When I was growing up, a very long time ago, there was always a person with tall pole, teenagers mostly, standing at the end of the rows for the pilot to line up on. He or she was showered with the spray to some extent too. Hard to imagine that in this day and age.

  12. Thanks for the great photos. I normally don't get to see them in action, living in the city. But DH is a plane nut, so I loved these photos.

  13. We have crop dusters here too. I think of them as 'yellow buzzers'. I'm curious. What was he spraying?

    Very cool pix.
