I get so much more done, and have SO much more time when I don't go places!!
I have been working in my Red and Blue Bins - and patiently sewing these Log Cabin Blocks.
Every time I added a block to the wall - I made everyone come look - and cheer!
It was a long process....
But since my children know who feed them - they appear when I call....
And then I thought.... Oh I did it - I have enough for a quilt,
I called them all
I made them stand patiently as I placed the blocks that I had finished....
I am sure you can imagine the pure dissappointment....
when I realized I was one short..... *sigh*....
My brilliant child said - mom - change the arrangement - do a 4x6
And I laid down on the floor and cried... but I don't want to do a 4x6
and he left the room
It was embarrassing.
So.... I am making one more block
It's not like I don't have enough fabric to do it....

Love these log cabins! What a great way to use those scraps. It will take no time at all to sew up that last block. Just think of the applause you will get then!

ReplyDeleteThat is a great design for your QOV. I know how you felt when you found out you were 1 block short. This makes me want to start a new quilt with my overflowing r,w,b bins too. - BUT NO, not on my goals for this year! Have to finish UFOs first.

One more block won't be so bad. I'm wishing break could last just a bit longer too. Won't be fun to get back into the normal routine again.
ReplyDeleteOnce the boys are all off to college you'll miss this time of being their Mom. (Technically you will always be their Mom, but something changes at college - or in the military. They grow up.)

ReplyDeleteI'm laughing...but I feel your pain! A similar thing happened to me, with one difference. I was short one block worth (actually half a block worth) of the right shade of fabric. So I had to order some...kind of defeated the purpose! Oh well.

Your log cabin blocks are really looking good! The very first quilt I ever had one a log cabin that my mother-in-law made for hubby & I about 35 years ago. I have yet to make one myself, but it was the very 1st one that I put on my list. Your blocks make me want to start it soon! Thanks for sharing Alycia!

ReplyDeleteLog Cabins are some of my favorite pieced blocks, and these look great! I am so afraid of being a block short, I will make one or two extra- it is so discouraging to go back when you think you are done!
