Veterans Day Rail Fence Step 4

TA DA -
The one on the left is the scrappy RWB version.
The one on the right is the 5 color version. And my son - who did the layout!

Here is the Layout. I layed my quilt out in an 8 x 10 setting. Okay - the truth - I let my boys lay it out, they have a better eye than I for scrappy quilts. Plus they can get down on the ground better, and I can eat M&M;s while watching them.

Here is a close up of the scrappiness of the blocks.

So this step is to lay out your quilt and sew it together.

  1. Alycia, your boys do wonderful layouts! No sewing here. I'm in Alabama visiting my granddaughter & they don't even own a machine. I haven't gotten brave enough to ship my baby here. IF she gets out of school early enough I hope we'll make it to Pensacola in time to see the Blue Angels perform.
    Happy Veteran's Day. Thank you for all you do.

    I'm running behind on mine. Version 1 is what I'm doing. It is cold and rainy here in KS. What a perfect day to sew.

    check it out!
    I love this quilt pattern. I'm going to do the scrappy one next and the next one is going to be big, like yours. The first one, I didn't have a lot of the same strips already cut, so it is smaller, but I love it anyways :)

    Ugh! I had planned to start cutting and sewing on Sunday but here it is Thursday and I haven't even had a chance to pick out my fabrics. I had to work today.

  8. Not sewing along this time. On Veteran's day I was celebrating my 10th wedding anniversary by going to our children's teacher conferences. At least DH and I were together!!

  9. Well I'm not on a roll at all, BUT I have the whole day ahead of me with ONLY quilting on the mind. I may just find myself digging through the R/W/B stash of 2.5"s and 1.5" to see about whipping one of these out. {{No need to throw me into the loot drawing}}

    I was glad to find this post this morning. Last night I sorted R/W/B
    fabrics to start a rail fence.
    This inspired me to do it today.
    Thanks for the great pictures, Thea in Indiana

  11. I am a bit late in getting to your blog, but that is OK. I have two sets of strips left to piece and cut into blocks...looking good! I got sidetracked by family chores and errands yesterday but I hope to spend time on the sew along this afternoon, smile. Can't wait to see what others have done, too. Judy V.
