King Deco!!!! and FInished ( Or not) Friday!!

Back in April I started working on this KING sized Quilt!!!  I had a goal of getting it done by September, but I was afraid to voice it - what happened if I failed???  ( I mean, we know the track record of meeting deadlines)

I DID IT!!!

And I quilted HORSE SHOES!!! I love it!!

So this Quilt is for a friend - it will be being gifted as this is posting. So I hope she Likes it. BUT!!

I was at my Therapists office (Sew Downtown - the Quilt shop) and Was choosing my backing fabrics. My Therapist ( Store owner) and I got to talking about quilt sizes.

We got to talking about friends and decided the better the friend the larger the Quilt....  So She must be a good friend. I don't know if I'd go that far -- haha!! Just kidding!!

So The better the friend the larger the Quilt is that you make for them?

I will tell you there is a boo boo in it, but apparently I made the boo boo enough times - it became a design element - cuz they are all that way - Oh boy!!  This was a fun quilt - it was on point tho in its construction, and that was eye boggling to me at times...

And it's big enough - I think it should count for TWO finishes!! Right??

Here is a link to the pattern I used - Art Deco Quilt

  3. Lol - I told my dh about your therapy, therapist's office, etc., and he just shook his head. He knows and better not to argue! Love your quilt - couldn't see any mistakes so obviously it was a well planned boo-boo! ;-) Blessings!

  7. It's a gorgeous finish! Congrats on meeting your deadline with such a big quilt. I'm not so sure it's size as it is complexity. I've made quilts for Grad Girl and My Guy that really challenged me just because they liked the pattern.

  11. That is a fabulous quilt, Alycia! Not knowing the pattern, I wouldn't have any idea where your boo boo is, so design element it must be. It's a lovely gift for your friend! Happy Friday!

  15. I loved reading about this design exercise and how thoughtful you are about it. Your finish will look terrific. It is less important to have perfectly straight lines than to have an overall hand made look to the rug, IMHO

  19. That’s a very different quilt from your usual. I like it. I don’t see any boo-boos. I am not fond of making on point blocks, but I really like the look of them. So ya do what ya gotta do! It’s amazing!
