Wednesday Morning we woke up - and I tried to turn the water on - to no avail! Our Well Pump had died. For some reason that just threw off my whole day , and seemed to get my morning off to a rough start - I had to brush my teeth without water...
Well not totally true - we do have a lot of bottled water that we save and refill quite often - just in case. When the power goes out we also have no water.
I also still had 2 quilts of valor to wash for the next presentation... that flustered me..
So I went quilting!!
I made this Plaid Patriotic Diamond Chain quilt - ( or Buckeye Beauty) and I think it was time to quilt it up!!! I Love plaid.... its just awesome!
Now you knew - i was going to have to make the girls pose! They are really getting the hang of it, and I believe they think it is expected anymore haha
It has been cloudy and overcast - but when I went to take photos the sun was so bright - it got hard to see the quilting pattern.... But yay!! this will go off to the binder... and bam!! one more will be ready to roll!
Just for fun - this is the hay field - doesn't it look so cool? ahh maybe not as cool in a photo as it is in person - but the circles, I thought that would be a cool quilting design.
now it is your turn!! Link up your favorite post from this week and show us what you finished (or not)

Very pretty quilt! I hope it didn't take long to get the pump replaced. Being without water can be challenging, happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteLove! I don't care what colors you make the Buckeye quilt in, it is always a standout to me! When our water doesn't flow, it throws off the whole day for me. That is some spectacular view of the hay field.
ReplyDeleteThat Buckeye Beauty is definitely a beauty! And the perfect backing, too. Hope it didn't take too long to get the well pump fixed. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteYour latest quilt finish is a traditional beauty! I also love plaids, and strips and especially dots oh and did I mention plaids? !
ReplyDeleteI love plaid too. Congrats on getting another great quilt donated. Love the girls pausing. They are so "au naturel". I get the hay field picture too. I think it takes a country girl to understand what you see. Enjoy! ;^)
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain on the pump. Ours went out a few years ago. What a fantastic use of plaids! What a WOW quilt!
ReplyDeleteYour field does exhibit an awesome quilting design! your Patriotic Diamond Chain quilting looks awesome as does the pattern, It is a WOW!!!
ReplyDeleteI do love your Buckeye Beauties, Alycia! I made one in the 90's and we were calling that block Jewel Box back then. Must make one again!!!
ReplyDeleteI just love your models

I'm not usually a big fan of plaid, but I love it in this quilt. The plaid looks great!!
ReplyDeletePlaid? Patriotic? Puppies? Perfect combination! And yes, the hay field circles definitely need to find their way onto a quilt!
ReplyDeleteHi Alycia, that's a cool quilt - you always do such a good job with plaid! Your girls are so good (and cute!) Good luck with your water situation and the hay circles are neat - everything can become a quilting design :-)
ReplyDeleteThe plaid is super happy and hooray for the binding time! :)
ReplyDeleteI sure like your Plaid buckeye quilt. Neat idea -- I'm assuming you used a whole lot of plaid shirts to make this one. Sorry your well pump died. UGH. Hope a new one arrives soon!
ReplyDeleteI just imagine the girls looking at your weirdly if you DIDN'T make them pose. Like, what's up with Mom? Love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking new quilt and the hay field does look cool!!!! Good girls....
ReplyDeleteHaving no water is not fun at all. Hopefully it was fixed up pretty quickly. Your plaid QOV turned out beautifully!
ReplyDeletePlaid inspiration, how wonderful! Sorry about the water situation. We had the same thing when I was growing up, no water when the electricity went off. Hope you get a new pump soon!
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely plaid patriotic quilt! Love your use of plaids! Sorry to hear of your well pump demise! That surely can throw off your day! Hope it was fixed without too much trouble!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I do hope that you get your well pump fixed soon. We get our water by well too ; it is no fun to be without water especially this time of the year. Your Buckeye Beauty is gorgeous; I have a soft spot for plaids too. Take care, Alycia. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt and a good way to turn your day around. The pups are doing a great job posing, too! I hope the pump gets resolved soon...it is so hard when the things we rely on are malfunctioning - but you do sound well prepared!
ReplyDeleteOh, goodness! With well water, you have no water when the power goes out?! No one told me that! We have well water here in the house we've been living in since February! There is a generator on the property that was not operational, and my husband talked me into spending a small fortune on parts and labor to get it running again because we would lose air conditioning, refrigeration and cooking ability if the power went out as it frequently does in Florida during storm season. Now if I am being honest, the reason I finally gave in was so I could still run my COFFEE MAKER if the power went out... It had never occurred to me that I wouldn't have running water either. I am so used to living in places that have city tap water service and hadn't really considered that those pumps and filters and things out by the well run on electricity. Duh! I hope your water is back up and running by now. The quilt you shared today is just beautiful.
