PINK crumb blocks, diamond chains and oh my.... I've created a mess!

First!! it finally FINALLY started snowing - and because of that - I was *confined* to indoors. Well - not really , but it sure sounds good right?

I have too much outside to be stuck inside, but while inside... I made the best use of the time! Started Chili in the crockpot and stitched!!

PINK ! I started with the Crumb scraps in my crumb bin.

I also have a color theory Book in there. We had a speaker come and she mentioned colors, and I know I have a color wheel - so I dug that out. Did you know that The TRIAD colors to pink are Light Blue and Yellow?

An idea percolated - and off I went to dig in the stash. I found deep yellows, and mustard Yellows, but I was really looking for a pale yellow - and I found it!!!

I also found some Light Blue strips - and so....

I started playing with the TRIAD Colors - I do have an idea - I just am not sure if it will work or not, but regardless - I am plowing forward ( I just heard the snow plows go by.. it inspired my word 😆)

The Green is the COMPLEMENTARY color - and of course - two pinks - MONOCHROME....

But wait!! What is that that you see under the TRIAD blocks???

Diamond Chain blocks!!!! I always need a Leader/Ender projects going on - and last year in September I started on some from my 5 inch square box . I made quite a few, but I decided to pull the pinks out - I had 5 - and put them up...

So I dug thru my 5 inch square bin - and guess what?  I FOUND MORE PINK SQUARES... so! That became my leader ender in Pink.!

We will see how far that goes!!  ( PS - there are 4 blocks under the TRIAD block!)

A little about pink I found while Googling:

"Pink Represents compassion, Love and Nurturing. Let it guide your actions"
( I do have to make sure it doesn't guide me to a ton of NEW ufos!!)

"Pink is the color of Confidence"

"Pink is the color of Dreams and Whimsy"

and

"Pink Reminds us to love ourselves unconditionally before seeking validation from others."

That seems to be a lot to put on PINK - but!! I like it, and its a new year - so Why Not!!!

  1. Love the Diamond Chain blocks! I always want to make the blocks I see on your design board (squirrel-spiration). We are at 19 this morning with some wintry mix forecast for Thursday/Friday and low temps for several days. Your crockpot chili sounds good! We'll be doing chili and potato soup and generally gaining weight - lol!

  3. Great post--the new blocks are looking great! Another tidbit about pink-we think it is for girls and blue for boys; in 1979, my husband's cousin in Poland had a little girl so I sewed a beautiful pink ensemble. When I showed it to my mil before I mailed it she made a funny face. Well, in Poland and most of Europe, pink was considered too strong a color for girls and was reserved for boys! I sent the outfit anyway and hoped postwar Poland cousins had a different idea! lol

  11. These all look really awesome! Can't wait to see them completed and I know you'll get them done faster than I would. I haven't decided on a block for rainbow scraps yet and I have found that I have very little scraps in pink- I think I use them first because it is my most favorite!

  12. You have certainly elevated pink scraps. Love the crumb blocks, the squares and the Diamond Chain is great in the value changes of the fabrics.

  13. You have quite the collection of pinks! As a girl, I loved pink. I still like it, but it is no longer my favorite color. I'm not even sure that I have a favorite color any more... I like ALL of them. ;) Thanks for sharing in my Sew & Tell party.

  14. It's so fun to see everything that's on your design wall! The crumb blocks are so pretty in pink, and so are the checkerboard blocks. Lots of inspiration there!
