Its time to start knitting hats for M's 2023 Operation Christmas Child Project -
Heck fire - how did it get here already!!!
This is my haul for November... Not very many - but!! its a start!!!
These are full of goodies for kids - and a Hat!!! and on their way to show some love!!
Now!!!
Every time I post photos of the hats.. I get asked what pattern I use... and you all know I am a quilter ...not a knitter, so I never know how exactly to answer - but here is the what I do ;-)
We use these LOOMS:
and I followed this tutorial: Knit hat and I made mine like this:
To make the ones with a brim - you stitch 20 rows and fold in half ( back up on the loom) them make 30 more rows
Maybe I am not a knitter but a Loomer?????
I use the pink one for the kids hats, and the purple one for my husbands hats!!
Our church collected those boxes also. and I've seen them in other blog posts. I suspect alot of boxes are going overseas.
ReplyDeleteYou're off to a great start. Those stacked boxes look amazing and I hope the recipients feel all the love put into their contents.
ReplyDeleteI would love to make some of these hats but I don't know of a group in my area doing this. Would it be okay for me to make hats and send them to you? I already make newborn hats for the local hospital and have been doing it for years (using the blue loom) but I want to start making larger hats and since I already have the looms, I would be able to jump right in. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Alycia!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful start to your beanie-making year. We call them beanies here in Australia (do you call them beanies in the US too?).
ReplyDeleteI think you did an excellent job 'loomng' those hats! They are very comfy looking!
ReplyDeleteam certain God is blessing you for such wonderful gifts...
