June's RSC color was Blue - and I ( of course) had blue plaids - so I started cutting them up... I might have cut a lot - but - on these quilts - they are truly scrappy ! I just grab a stack of leftovers , cut them to 3 1/2 x 6 1/2 and stitch until I run out....
This is the quilt I came up with!
You might wonder about my set up.... well..... I had a friend that needed head shots for their business profile - so I set up my light studio and backdrop to do them
And it was only 400 thousand degrees outside
And I thought Heck fire!!! Hang a quilt.... it should work.... and I think it did....
a close up of the quilting.
I am pretty happy to get this one finished. I have been commissioned for a lot of Memory quilts. And I really like doing those. I just forget that sometimes there are a lot of small pieces, and a LOT of cutting involved... But I am glad to be able to do them ;-)
Now it is your turn to show off your Finishes ( or not) this week. But there are conditions:

Love this simple quilt idea!!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous quilt and even fabulouser quilting.
ReplyDeleteMore plaid, hurray! I love it! And the quilting is just perfect for it.
ReplyDeleteSorry you have such a heat wave. Love the manly plaid stepper.
ReplyDeleteOh, the plaids! Oh, the texture! It's always fun to see the variety of Steppers you make.
ReplyDeleteAs for zucchini...well, my fav is zucchini bread. I went on a week's vacation and expected to come home to some giant zucchinis (and cukes) but found no zucchini (or cukes). Evidently the darned groundhog has been eating all of the blossoms. No zucchini bread for me for awhile.
The plaid quilt is beautiful! I think I have a stack of FQ's and could try this!
ReplyDeleteWe've started enjoying lemon walnut zucchini muffins (yum!) as they bake up better than the bread that never seems to get done in the middle without overcooking the outsides. Our plants are producing but not as much as years past due to the excessive heat and lack of rain. Your plaid steppers is wonderful. I need to try that design with a stack of darker neutrals I have set aside for a hospice quilt . . .
ReplyDeleteA very cozy looking quilt to just scrunch and nap. I use a lot of zucchini recipes from wholesumyum as I am cooking keto these days. The zucchini fries and casseroles are very good. I also have a spiralizer that makes great zoodles- but bake, not cook them on the stove for firmer finishes.
ReplyDeleteYou really make plaid quilts look fun. Love the quilting on this one!
ReplyDeleteHomegrown zukes (have two almost ready now!!!) sliced in half, shoveled out and stuffed with the innards mixed with turkey sausage, diced Hatch green chilies, diced tomatoes from the garden, diced onions from the garden, baked in the oven for about half an hour at 350, then sprinkled with the four-cheese Mexican mix. Boy, now I know what I'm having for dinner in about a week to ten days!!! Can't wait to hear what you do with yours!
Zucchini Parmesan is my favorite. Sautee zuc, sliced onions and a little garlic in a skillet with butter (or olive oil) and some oregano or Ital. seasonings for a few minutes. Pour some marinara sauce over it, top with parm and some shredded mozzarella. Place under a broiler (or in the oven or on a grill) until cheese is melted. It is really good served over pasta of any shape. :) Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt and perfect quilting.
ReplyDeleteYou are really popping out Stepper quilts. I'm impressed and yes the photography was great. Well lit so we can see all the details. As to zucchini my mom used to fry coins of zucchini in soy sauce. If the zucchini didn't get over cooked it was great. Now I tend to make zucchini bread although lemon muffins sound good too.
ReplyDeleteOMG, love me a plaid quilt! Adore.
ReplyDeleteDarling quilt, Alycia and great collection of plaids. Thank you for hosting the link party. Happy quilting.
ReplyDeleteYour photo set up worked great. I just love the texture of that quilting. What is the name of the panto?
ReplyDeleteAlycia, I just love your plaid quilts! I must make one soon!
