I got it into my head that it would be fun to make a string block a day.
However - when I make string blocks - I make a HUGE mess on my sewing table.... do you?
I stuck with it, and will continue - I have more strings... but I may have to got to 2 blocks every other day - so I don't make such a mess.... maybe.... I am known to be messy - and take over the whole house....
My January Progress :
There really are 31 blocks - I just forgot to add the two under the needle....
Obviously I have a TON of Patriotic Strings - so they will need to be depleted.
And then on the right - the left overs from another quilt that I started out of my friends Fabrics. I am really liking this color palette.... its antiquey!
Oh! and!! I started cleaning out some of my fabric bins - just in case there are some things that I don't see myself using in the next 100 years ( I have a lot of fabric to sew up, I need to stick around)So I've listed a few things in my Quiltygirl Etsy Store :
check out these Orientals.. 28 FQ's - pretty cool

Oh, the string blocks are perfect! Nice goal to use them up!
ReplyDeleteLove the string blocks especially the patriotic one. They are so happy and bright!!
ReplyDeleteHeck my string mess is all over the floor too, as I dig through bins looking for the right piece, haha. I might not use all of one string so then the leftover ones go to another pile:0
ReplyDeleteDon't you find it more efficient to sew string blocks in batches? Perhaps instead of one-a-day literally you could do "as many blocks s days in the month," so 31 for January, 28 for February, etc. Or even seven at a sitting to get a week's worth out of the way. That said, your scrappy fabric combos look great!
ReplyDeleteI just make a helluva mess whenever I am sewing. =) I am proficient at it! Love your string blocks! They look fabulous on your design wall.
