My Quilt ladder started something

In May of last year - we had our wood floors refinished

In June I found a ladder and painted it teal for the kitchen/living room

and then!

I was ready to refinish the chairs at our 100 Year old dining room table.....

But!

I couldn't find what  I wanted .... all I knew is that old yellow fabric was really outdated now - my Kitchen is Teal/Navy and white...

And quite frankly , yellow ( gold to be more realistic)

just didn't match.

and then I found it!! the color I wanted on my chairs. I got the fabric, got my staple gun out, and we realized my staple gun was not as industrial as it should have been.

The men ran to town and got an industrialized staple gun and

We got to work. And by We - I mean my husband and son. I am a great director!! ( dictator anyone?)

When they were taking the old stuff off, we actually found the original fabric. Seems like when they put that on there it was staying FOREVER!! and whoever had refinished these next just fabriced over it....

Ohhh Progress - doesn't that teal just look so much better than the yellow?

Ta da!!

and now the kitchen/dining room is done!!

( pray for our older appliances - that they at least make it to Christmas 2022!)

just so you know.... when we started the kitchen, someone flooded the bathroom ( her name shall not be mentioned here) . Now that the kitchen is entirely finished - its time to head back to the bathroom and finish it!

  1. Well, my appliances are fine but the transmission on the Honda Odyssey went south during our snow event. Very un-Honda like. Had to have it flat bedded to the dealer. Somehow I think a new appliance would be cheaper.

  2. Love your new chair fabric! Isn’t it amazing how fabric can make the old and worn look new again! Good job, family! Seeing your refinish floor photos reminds me that it can be done! We have a flooring project coming up and I’m dreading it! The logistics of moving the “stuff” is overwhelming! BALANCE! Remember BALANCE!

  3. Your kitchen/dining room looks wonderful! The chair fabric is perfect. Good job Alycia - you certainly got your workers to perform. :-)

  4. Love your kitchen!!! The colors are fabulous and your crew did a great job on the chairs! When I made selvage edge covers for my daughter's dining room chairs, I didn't take off the old pleather, just put my "creative" covers right on top! Pleather and cats just don't work well together! Your teal ladder is the things that dreams are made of!!

  5. A beautiful transformation for your chairs and your kitchen/dining rooms. Home improvements can take way too long sometimes. We replaced ALL of our 25 year old appliances just before Christmas 2019. Now I want to replace our counter top, but my husband is reluctant. I've tried to convince him it would be much cheaper than the appliances were. I'm hoping before the end of 2022 we make that improvement.

  9. Oops! Gotta remember to turn the bathtub water off. I recovered my dining room chairs years ago (what idiot puts white fabric on dining room chairs)? I just put the new fabric over the old fabric, too. I love my staple gun. I've used it to recover several different stools, etc. Glad your kitchen is matching now.
