So I thought today I would show you more of my photos of our hike to the Continental Divide - because.... well it was warm there - ha ha!
This is us - Pretty much at the top - Who knew that you wouldn't be on a precipice? But Isn't it gorgeous!!
This was some of the mountain Sides that we saw - I thought it was so cool how one yellow tree would be right there in the middle
And the colors - the deep reds, the yellows - I am sure it got better as time went on - but I sure liked the time we were there!
and some parts were just so dense and dark
with just a little light shining through
Squirrel!!
Look at the way he eats!
We sat for a lunch break and this bird comes running from behind us, across the trail
and took off
I think It is a Ptarmigan
And if i didn't have a Black and White Tree photo
Would you know it was me?
Just not a bad view from any direction
Happy Trails Y'All.....
HOME! Looks like home to me...thank you for sharing your gorgeous day!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! You have a real knack for this photography thing.
ReplyDeleteOne problem - your Ptarmigan is a road runner. I've been researching pictures of them to make a paper pieced pattern for my son's quilt. His siblings each got backyard bird quilts... He is an Iron Man, and runs a lot for practice, so I want a road runner on his quilt.
Enjoyed your pictures. Thanks for sharing them.
Hugs
Beautiful photos!!! Thanks for sharing your hike!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! Stay warm and dry, it's hard to believe it's winter time already.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! We saw lots of Ptarmagins in Alaska; in fact I think it is their state bird. I saw my first QOV presentation last Sunday and thought of you and all the ways you contribute to that program.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!! Your Ptarmigan/roadrunner had me checking them both out!! The Ptarmigan body looks like your bird, but yours seems to have the top feathers of a roadrunner...roadrunners appear to be much slighter in the body than your bird. Lovely mystery between your picture and Terri's comment!!
ReplyDeleteI knew aspen turned yellow, but I didn't realize they would turn that carnelian orange.
ReplyDeleteLove your road trips.
Gorgeous photos! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gem of a hike! (And that squirrel photo... WOW!) I recognize that Windy Keyboard!!! You make me long for the mountains...
ReplyDeleteOh, and PS, being from New Mexico, my first thought was roadrunner, too, but I think it's very rare for them to be that far north. Or that high!!! We had one for about three months along the Hogback just west of the Denver Metro last year, so it is possible, but I can also see a little bit of Ptarmy in that photo, too. Good eye, whatever he or she is!
ReplyDeleteOh, how I love our mountains. Can't wait to do more exploring of them. Have vacationed here for years, and moved north of Denver a year ago. Love, Love, Love, Love it here. Thanks for sharing the pictures. It never gets old.
