Rainbow Scrap Challenge - Sea Green

This Months Challenge - Issued by Angela at SoScrappy   was:

Sea Green will be the color for February.  Anything between blue and green will work.  From teal, to aqua to turquoise.  Try to find anything that isn't happy with blue or green but plays somewhere in between.

That's a weird one - and my my first thought was - well I don't have that color.... I always trick myself that way.... and then I find stuff.... I'm talented that way!

Look what I found!!!

and we had a little bit of an Ice Storm
So one of us was stuck inside for a bit
We actually had a 2 hour school delay
Which in reality - for us ( at the edge of nowhere)
should have been all day.....

So Little Bit and I made the best of it
He snoozed....
I got a little bit done ;-)

  1. My husband just got back from a business trip to Denver and he was telling me about the ice storm. Strange! Glad that it meant a bit more sewing time though. Anything that means more sewing time can't be all bad.

  3. Lucky you! I searched and searched but didn't come up with too much in my blue/green scraps so had to dig into some fat quarters. Ice storms are no fun. Glad you had power so could stitch as you waited it out. Our folks on the East Coast weren't so lucky.

  4. It's interesting to see the fabrics that each of us deem fitting of the SEA GREEN distinction. Have fun with those scraps!!

  6. Those look like great blocks for ice storm sewing! Glad you got to stay in! I live up in Loveland, and we got the ice, too, but no delayed start for the schools. I am fortunate not to have to worry about that anymore!

  7. I trick myself that way too!

We had a terrible ice storm here in Iowa a few weeks ago. I live in the country too and ventured out to try to get to work at 5 am but turned around after going to the end of our blacktop. Icy roads are not for me!

  8. I feel the same as you. I figured I didn't have any of the color that was chosen for February. I pulled a couple of fabrics that were "teal-ish". Then figured I would sneek out and get som fat quarters to add to the stash. (I know, that's cheating) This afternoon after reading a few posts from the link ups I went back and pulled fabrics from my scraps that weren't "blue" or "green". If they don't work, I will live with it. I just want to make stuff!
I like your blocks, the colors you used are encouraging to me!

  11. Very fun blocks! Ah seems that time away from school is spent pretty much the same way by all high schoolers, they sleep in!

  13. sea green, aquamarine, turquoise, whatever, is a colour that until quite recently was not a very big part of my stash or scraps so I hear you! But I like you, surprised myself when I did first dig through the meagre supplies. Ahem, I may have remedied the lack in both areas, still a little scant on the aqua scraps though! Picked up a yard of a beautiful Kona called Pool, the other day...:-) Your churn dash blocks look terrific!
