Thursday after moving calves with Wrangler Man, I was sitting on the couch, half dead, and I said - "I feel the need to buy some new fabric" . And since Wrangler Man was half dead as well, he agreed.
And then....
I woke up Friday and thought I had better organize so I know what fabric I want to buy...
And this happened:
The top is from the left over pieces from my Brick Cottage Lane Quilt, and the middle is a quilt I started in May while I was house sitting, and the bottom is blocks from the Scrap Challenge over at So Scrappy .... and then I found some of those Microwave bowls that I had started, and then.....
I might have texted a friend and admitted that I was in trouble....
The bottom line - I didn't buy fabric yet - but I still feel the need.... I just don't really need anything ......
*sigh*

Aw, gee, it is hard to restrain ourselves from buying fabrics "just because." There are gorgeous prints out there! Lately, my solution has been to buy neutral fabrics, tone on tone fabrics (it does not matter which color), some grays, some whites and the like. Especially if they are on sale. This way, I can use the prints in my stash more. Hope this helps you, smile.
ReplyDeleteI love your leftovers from Brick Cottage Lane. I love your statement you don't need any fabric but you want some...I said the same thing yesterday! I couldn't help myself GreenFairy.com has a layer cake sale through tonight.
ReplyDeleteAll of them would make a great quilt, just not in the same quilt. You could get a nice table runner out of the top row of left overs, a fun mini quilt out of the bottom set of blocks. I'd save the middle blocks to use in a back, they would make a great focus line down or across the right back.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the blocks you're making with cottage lane left overs could be separated and framed with white. Then use other leftovers to build a bigger quilt top. I believe there are some patriotic fabrics on sale over at the Old Country Store in Lancaster, PA. Their prices are better than other places including my local quilt shop where I noticed one bolt higher than 11.00. Try whittles.com also. Or call them directly. Not everything they have in the shop is on line. Happy sewing.
ReplyDeleteI really feel the need to buy some fabric too, but I won't until after I have done some organizing in my sewing room.
ReplyDeleteI stopped in at my LQS and found out they were going to have a shop hop soon... I dearly wanted to hop, but the cost is prohibitive to us right now. I did buy 2 yards of batik - haven't shown it on the blog yet. I didn't want them to run out before I could come back again. (We have to keep those places in business. It's not the kind of store just anybody frequents. It's up to us quilters to do it...

you have a wonderful start - thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteWay to stay strong!! I think we quilters tend to give in to temptation WAY too easily. Especially considering the fabric stashes that most of us have!!!
ReplyDeleteI totally get the need to buy fabric. It's the looking, touching, thinking, dreaming, etc. when I go to my LQS. And then I come home, look at my stash, and wonder what I was thinking. LOL. Pretty sure the fabric will come in handy someday, though, right??? You came up with some great blocks from your stash! Well done! You probably need to reward yourself with a trip to your LQS. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's just the need to touch fabric that doesn't belong to you. You can pretend it does and they are storing it for you. =) But I'm sure there's something you need, surely there is. Your first few sentences made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteOh, I understand those fabric buying urges! And I always succumb in a weak moment when I'm tired and it's late at night - online shopping! I know you need new fabric, I can just feel it. Treat yourself, your friends are supporting you! LOL
ReplyDeleteLove those fun log cabin blocks! Go ahead and get some fabric. Looks like you'll USE it! LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou must make your microwave bowls and then use them. I cannot keep my friends in them as all of us love to use them. They should be called microwave pot holders to fit all those bowl that get too hot. This will also use up good size scraps so the need for fabric is necessary. Have fun!
