A HUGE ( out of focus) box!!!
Of all 2 1/2 inch strips!!!
So while I was watching TV with the boys
I sorted them by color
and Yesterday
( After Basketball practice, A trip to Sams, Shooting Sports and chores!!)
This is what I made!!!
Well - really , its' just a start!
Every pattern I have found for this block calls for 2 3/8 inch strips -
so I adjusted them to 2 1/2 , and it made a 12 inch block - so I think it should be good?
I'll make more tomorrow and make sure I did the measurements right!
Yay!!

Wow, you made great use of those scraps from the git go. Looking forward to seeing this new project take shape.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun gift!!! And these strips were already cut at 2.5 inches, all right! And the 2.5 inch measurement makes far more sense than 2 3/8 inches, doesn't it? Love your block!
ReplyDeleteI think it will be grand!
ReplyDeleteI just know you hate surprises like that!! LOL Love the block--what's the name of it? A 12" block? Perfect!
ReplyDeleteLooks very good to me!
ReplyDeleteWow! Great use of the scraps. I love this block. I might have to come up with a quilt using it. I also have lots of 2.5" strips already cut!
ReplyDeleteWhen we get a bunch of someone else's scraps it always rejuvenates our own & makes them look better
ReplyDeleteI mailed off a box of quilts to you yesterday(July 7). You should have them in a few days.
still laughing! I really like this block, will you be adding this block to your scrap blocks folder?
ReplyDeleteThis block of yours seems to have attracted quit a few quilters! I too am jumping on the band wagon and will be waiting to see where you go with it!
ReplyDeleteI believe that block is called an "Album" block.
ReplyDeleteDo you sleep?
Hooray!! for scraps (and making them work for you.)
ReplyDeleteThat block is beautiful. 2 3/8" strips? Who are they kidding? Hope you find your plan works out just fine, it certainly makes more sense.
ReplyDeleteThe block looks great! I've never seen it made with 2.5 strips. It was a great idea to change it and come up with a 12 inch block.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the beginning of a great scrap quilt!
ReplyDeleteLucky you to be gifted with scrappy jellyroll(s). You sure made good use of some of them right away.
ReplyDeleteYay for a drop by with scraps! Lovely block. Thanks for linking up to #scraptastictuesday
ReplyDeleteHaving a bunch of scraps already cut into 2 1/2" strips is great. There's so much you can do with them. I've never heard of a pattern requiring 2 3/8" blocks before. You're smart to revise it.
