One of my dearest Quilting Friends lost her husband - a Navy Man.
The funeral was last week, and I was asked to not only attend, but to photograph it as well.
I must say - that makes you look at a funeral in a whole new light - and you may choke up at the most unexpected things.
I want to respect her privacy, so no photos of the family - but the Military Representation - Wow!
That made me choke up.
They stood on each edge of the perimeter.
They stood so respectfully, and the honor
Oh My...the honor
Not only honoring this fine man who passed over
but their honor to be in his presence on more time.
The final Salute
And the true respect.
My heart was overwhelmed
My friend was honored
Her husband who passed was honored.
What a rare, but special remembrance you have provided your friend. With your last photo, I can hear the mournful strains of Taps (which is the tune that is usually played to honor a serviceman's passing.) Thoughts and prayers going out to your friend and her family as they begin to heal from this loss.
ReplyDeleteAnd you honored your friend and her husband by taking those beautiful pictures...
ReplyDeleteOh Alycia, what a wonderful thing you have done for this family. Your pictures are very touching and I can feel the respect that the service members have given this man and his family. These photos will provide many hours and years of remembrance to this family.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the honor and respect shown . . .
