Alright - decision made - let's look at some Quilts of Valor first. We, in Colorado, have some standing destinations that we make sure we cover our Veterans at. This number varies per month - but on average it is 60 quilts per month.... then we work with a lot of other venues, and seasonal groups - and that can make the number jump to way high!!

All that to say that I am always Extremely grateful for all of the Quilters that help make sure these Veterans are shown the love. These quilts make such a HUGE difference - I can't even begin to tell you. Last week I was at a venue, and you all - I was so emotional when I left. I don't even know how to pass on the gratitude that these Veterans had for our quilts, and for acknowledging them. I took all the hugs and I am passing them on to you! *POOF* did you feel their hugs???

Colorado - as well as other coordinators - are in need of Finished Quilts - ready to be presented to our Veterans ... so over the next week or two - I am going to post the steps for a really cool - beginner friendly Quilt of Valor. I hope that you will check back each day for the next step - and join in. And I hope you will like the quilt.
It will finish at 63 x 81 inches ... ready to go gather your fabrics?
You will need:
Red: 7/8 of a yard
White: 2 1/2 yards
and
Blue: 2 yards
This does NOT include backing or Binding. I will probably bind mine with the Blue - so I would add an additional 1/2 yard to that.
I will put the cutting instructions up tomorrow - hope you come back??
Thanks for all you do! I will try and participate but my UFO plate is full and I'm trying not to start anything new until I get something old done.
ReplyDeleteAlways inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI am basting a QOV today that will be sent to you when finished.
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo, more quilts, and . .. more happy, healing veterans. Way to go team!
ReplyDeleteWow! I keep looking for the 'like' button when you post these quilts, but I would rather have a 'love' button! The smiles on the faces of those veterans awarded these beautiful quilts is inspiration to hurry and make more quilts! I have one completed, one that needs binding, and one that needs quilting.....working on them!!
ReplyDeleteall GREAT quilts! BTW, don't you start your day with coffee? Gevalia dark chocolate maybe? LOL
ReplyDeleteAnother inspiring show Alycia! You have some great frineds!! ;-)
