On one of my blizzard days - I grabbed a bag and started ironing. I keep hearing you can do anything for 15 minutes and stay focused. I put the theory to the test.... 15 minutes is a LONG time!
I ironed for 15 minutes and then started cutting.
This is now my cut pile - I cut stips 11 inches long - didn't matter the width.
And this is the crumb pile... and the too much of the same fabric pile. It is going to Carol in Colorado to make a Quilt of Valor with. She is good that way ;-) And I don't have to worry about it!
I like mindless sort of sewing every once in a while - where you just grab a strip and start.....
and you make a pile...... and somewhat of a mess.... but it is an organized mess - I promise....
And you end up with..... strip sets...... that now have a name.......
Welcome to: Sticks 2
stay tuned......

I have found that if I turn on something on tv, I use the 30 minute shows and sew or cut for that length of time. It goes much faster that way!
ReplyDeleteLove your fun, scrappy strips!
ReplyDeleteLike the sticks--will definitely have to put those on my to do list.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm intrigued! Mindless sewing every once in a while is a nice change!
ReplyDeleteA great way to enjoy your day and use up blues.
ReplyDeleteSo much fun to start with a mess and end up with something useable. Mindless sewing is so much fun particularly when it leads to a new project - Sticks 2. Looking forward to seeing the end result.
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued...and watching what the next step will be. I am very bad at using up scraps....I am trying to learn some ways that fit in with my need for organization. More than once, I have thought of just boxing them up and sending to another quilter. (I did send a box to Al several years ago.)
ReplyDeleteI love working with strings and strip sets . . . and there definitely are days when mindless stitching is in order!!
ReplyDeleteLoving your Sticks 2--I like anything with strings and strips lately. Hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteGood plan! Looking forward to seeing Sticks 2 become a quilt : )
ReplyDeletePretty sticks. Great use of a few minutes.
ReplyDeleteSticks = lovely. Can't wait to see what the will beeeee.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Love that scrap sorting has turned into a new project. Getting organized can be hazardous for the UFO list.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do with those!
ReplyDeleteI always love to see how you are sewing up your scraps. So simple yet the finished quilts are always so lovely. Thanks for linking up with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteReally? You just HAD to make me want to make another quilt!
ReplyDeleteLove your sticks! Thanks for linking up to #scraptastictuesday
ReplyDeleteThis is a a fun project. Your sticks look great :)
ReplyDeleteSo much fun, that mindless sewing.:)
ReplyDeleteTaming scraps seems to be a full time chore in the sewing room. Looks like you made some progress.
ReplyDeleteOh these coloureds are lovely and can't wait to see progress next week!
ReplyDeleteI'm liking these cool colours, very calming. The pop of turquoise in there just gives it pizazz! I've got a few (ahem) strips piles going for one of these quilts!
