Quilts of Valor 8/7

Just a hint.... grab a cup of coffee, and can of Dr Pepper, or a snack - and a napkin - these are totally drool worthy...... truly.....

First lets start with a little presentation. This veteran served in Iraq. His little boy was just so darling.
I always get a little choked up about the presentations - but I love that we can honor our heroes this way.

Alright - the quilts....

These first two quilts come from Judy F in New York. I have to tell you it was a fun surprise to open her box and recognize the quilt patterns RIGHT away!!   This one is the Veterans Day Rail Fence quilt along. If you click here it will take you to all the steps.

Check out the back.... too cool!!

This one from Judy F is called Stars and Bars. AND she used batiks.... yummmy!!!
It can be found here . Isn't it beautiful?

Now - this is just a top still - and I usually don't show tops until they are quilted. I hope you will forgive me this once - this was just too cool to wait to show you!!! It is pieced by Nina over at Quilts Life and Balance . She said it was a mystery quilt, so she chose red white and blue - and Voila!!!  Love!!!
She also raised boys.... and so .... she sent me my own pink cloth - and one for the men. They are really really soft - so do I have to use them for cleaning?

Ms Linda A in TX sent in the next four quilts - and Bless her..... she included all the info about each quilt for me. Truly awesome!!

This first quilt - is called "party mix" and was designed by Elizabeth Hartman. From Linda: "Her instructions are very long and detailed, and, if you follow them - you will have a painless, wonderful experience. I can't believe she even thinks like she writes, let alon can put together a pattern than anybody can follow."

From me:  Love Love Love - I really like these fabrics.... I think.... that maybe after my plaid phase I should start working on these colors..... yep.... I do....

From Linda: "This quilt is very aptly named "Every Which Way" by Gigi's Thimble. I love her patterns. I have a lot of them. I am never disappointed, and I always love working her designs."

We all kinda fell in love with the back too!!  Now - wouldn't this look good in plaids?????

From Linda.: " This is called "Stars and Ribbons" by Art to Heart. I have wanted to make this one for years, and had a really great time doing it. Obviously my scraps rival your - which really worked well in this quilt!!!"

Really Linda?  are you scraps talking to you too *giggle* - this is a gorgeous quilt!!

This last quilt from Linda - she says she found it on a blog, who found it on a blog, who found it on a blog - so she doesn't know the original anymore... She says you can make it with a ton of different fabrics, and you can probably make more blocks than you can use!!

I think you can find a really similar pattern at MaryQuilts.com called Forest Bricks

And Last - PILLOWCASES!!!  I got a wonderful surprise email from Valerie D. She is a teacher at Lucile Erwin Middle School in Loveland. The students in her 7th and 8th grade classes had a pillowcase project.... and they sent them to use with Quilts of Valor - IS that not AWESOME!!!
They did an excellent job - really!!! and the fabrics they chose were really great!!! Thank you kids!! You made my day!!

Thanks quilters!!

Hint Hint - NEXT Wednesday is the big day.... you will not want to miss that day's post - I know.... here is a hint... you will need fabric.... you will need thread.......  Tee hee hee.....
