There is a wonderful group of Veterans that we were invited to come and meet. I was so tickled to be invited. Usually during our presentations we hand the QOV to the Vet... but this was a different group.
They had chairs all around the room and the table was set up with food, as they were having a mini potluck for lunch. So Ethel and I took the quilts out of the pillowcases, and set one on each chair.
As the Veterans came in, we told them to make sure they liked what was in the chair before they sat down. What FUN!! They were not 100% sure what exactly was in the chair, but they looked, and ohhed and then chose a chair.
When it was our turn, we explained what it was they were holding, and that because we really liked to hand them out one at a time, we would like to come around and place the quilt around them.... lawsy mercy - the hugs and the Ohhhs.... these quilts are SO MUCH more impressive when opened fully.
They were so tickled!!!
Here is our group - they were such an amazing group of Veterans. We so enjoyed meeting them, getting to say Thank you, and hanging out with them!!
This is a clever way to present the quilts. I love the photo of our "caped warriors." Thank you for sharing this story and for representing those who donated their time and talents making the quilts.
