Now mind you this is kind of like a rough draft... I know things are missing.... like the corner triangles. I was thinkin of making 4 patches and cutting them in half to fill the spots - or not...... But this is the on point version, and it should only need a small border.
Here is the straight setting - it will need a border for sure, as it is 45 x 54 and I need it at least 55 x 65
So which do you like better?
On point settings always make the quilt more interesting to me. Plus, you get a few more inches out the same amount of blocks.
ReplyDeleteI love the on point version!
ReplyDeleteI like the on point one.
ReplyDeleteWOW! On point. Definitely on point. I'm glad you did this as it points out the bang of an on point setting and I was fooling around with which setting to use for a current quilt. The impact is really big when it's on point. Worth the extra effort.
ReplyDeleteOn point looks best to me, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm with the other blog visitors...I like the on pointe version!
ReplyDeleteon point! There always seems to be more drama with them compared to straight settings - do we wonder subconsciously if they'll slip and tumble down? Looks great! Sarah
ReplyDeleteon point...love the colors
ReplyDeleteI definitely like the on point version. I love the idea of the corner blocks you mentioned too. Dark blues would really set it off.
ReplyDeleteReally do love the pattern. So pretty!
I personally LOVE the look of the setting on point!
ReplyDeleteThe on point is perfect, especially because it takes up more space
ReplyDeleteLOL....ditto, ditto, ditto....
ReplyDeleteOn-point. And I agree 100% of the 4-patch halves for the setting triangles. And I hope it goes without saying, but I remember the upsetting moment I had when I literally cut straight down the middle of a block to use as a setting triangle INSTEAD of allowing for that additional seam allowance! Ugh! So....as to not kick myself, I simply have to insist on saying this even if you already know-----be sure to leave enough seam allowance so your setting tris aren't too small.
**sigh**...there I feel better...I would feel terrible if you went through the same disastrous frustration I did :0)
Oh, and BTW-----I LOVE this quilt!
On point looks better, true, but as a Libra, I feel compelled to say that if the straight setting gets done faster, go for it!
ReplyDeleteLike them both but on point gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteGotta go with the crowd here--no question, on point!
ReplyDeletemake one of each! be good- cw
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for on point also!
ReplyDeleteI will have to go with on-point also. More work but the results are worth it!

I agree, on point. And I like the alternate 4-patch made with 4 darker squares.
ReplyDeleteOn point takes an "ordinary" quilt to new levels. MUCH more striking.
Sorry to say that On Point looks a zillion times better. I know that it will take a lot more work to get to completion, but will be worth it in the end :) I've never made an o.p. quilt because of the extra work, but love to admire other's who are more brave than I am!
ReplyDeleteOn point for me, I love it.
ReplyDeleteOn Point! For sure.
ReplyDeleteOn point for sure~!
ReplyDeleteOn point for sure!
ReplyDeleteGotta go with the masses....on point is just so nice!!
ReplyDeleteOn point! They are always worth the extra work IMHO.
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for on point setting.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty quilt it will be.

ReplyDeleteGod Bless America is what it makes me want to say.
On point looks the best, more interesting too look at. Better eye candy!!
ReplyDeleteOn point, of course. The blocks are great!
ReplyDeleteOn point adds more visual interest
ReplyDeleteLooks like the on point is winning, and I have to admit, I like it best, too. The straight set is charming also though.
ReplyDeleteOn point adds more visual interest
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure my first attempt worked. Both look great, but the on point is my favorite.
