I got the second of the Three Disappearing 4 patch Quilts quilted up!! and off to the pile for the binders!!
My dogs were eating dinner, so they couldn't be bothered to pose... but the quilt is just as good - I promise!!
The quilting is a meandering star - I really like it, and its fun and fast!!
I also got all the blocks finished for the Star and Crown QOV - Now to get them rowed. They will need a border - as it is not big enough as is:
We are dryland pastures - so we welcome the rain - but a mile north is irrigated corn, and its time to harvest it - so we don't want the rain quite yet. We get stuck in the mud that way.... its a funny weather time...
What have you all been up to? How was your Week? Did you get anything fun finished? on its way to being finished? (okay - started???) its less that 100 days until Christmas I am told.... does that inspire you or strike fear or do you even worry about it?
Link Up your Direct Post please!!!
I have never made a d4p. I think you have inspired me to try one. Star and crown is another fabulous quilt. Apple and peach picking here is long past. I would pick pears but they are too high up for me. It has been beautiful weather here but now it looks like some rain every day for a week. Christmas is quiet and just another day at our house. We don't even put up a Christmas tree anymore.
ReplyDeleteHearing about Christmas makes me feel excited but anxious. I love your photos of the sky and your land, it really appeals to me. Lol on the dogs being too busy eating to pose.
ReplyDeleteYour Star and Crown blocks make a beautiful design, Alycia! I love how the stars just seem to glow. Have a wonderful Friday!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful QOV!! I'm still considering a Disappearing 9-patch for one of my next ones. Prairie skies are certainly dramatic aren't they? I also love watching the clouds move in. We've had a couple of rainy days now too. We needed the rain - but like you it's the beginning of harvest so there is that mud issue.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! It has a very graphic optical illusion vibe!
ReplyDeleteWe've had real thunderstorms the past few days; fall is definitely making an appearance here. I hope your corn fields stay dry until harvest. The D4P looks great, and I look forward to seeing the Star and Crown QOV come together!
ReplyDeleteThose are two awesome finishes! I really like the Star and Crown top.
ReplyDeleteStar and Crown is looking awesome! You take such beautiful photos of your paradise.
ReplyDeleteThe Disappearing nine Patch looks fabulous, Alycia and love the star blocks. Weather is always tricky especially when farming and ranching. I do hope you receive rain when and where you need it.
ReplyDeleteAnother huge cloud watcher here. The ones you shared are quite dramatic. Always fun to check out your latest QOV.
ReplyDeleteHi Alycia, what great quilts you're working on! I love to hear about your farm and the weather. I've never heard that apples didn't want to be picked because of the cold ;-) Thanks for the party.
ReplyDeleteBoth QOV quilts turned out beautifully. That meander star is just perfect for the D4P #2. It was been really wet here this year, normally it's pretty dry by the time we get to August.
ReplyDeleteDo I ever love these two patriotic quilts!!! God bless America!!!
ReplyDeleteYour patriotic Quilts of Valor 4 patches are beautiful! I love this four patch - I've been wanting to do one with all of those pesky rogue charms squares. Going to have to give it a try.
