This year in my guild ( Pieceable Friends) I hosted a Block Robin - Sort of a Round robin, but you chose a block you wanted Quilters to make, and we sent the boxes around. At the end - you have a box of Blocks.
I chose Scrappy ones - because I am on a mission to use Them All!!!!
Our Original boxes came back to us last Tuesday - and here is what was in my box!! * Squeeee***'
The ones in the bottom right --- have HORSE SHOES in them!!!
Aren't they just a gorgeous mix of color!!!
I then added all the scrappies I had made:
I tried to do them in diagonal rows - but I couldn't use them all so .. back to the wall:
It uses 90 of the 93 blocks and I have starter seeds for the next scrappy one!! - K walked in and said - Oh I LOVE that - so in my world... its a go!!!
Now I just need to row it, and make sure the doggies don't wag their tails to close to blow a block off the wall!!!

Just fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWow that is a LOT of blocks! LOL on the doggies wagging their tails too close - I get it! And my cats love to put their paws on the design wall and stretch and pull down blocks.
ReplyDeleteK has great taste. I love it too. Fabulous layout for all those colors.
ReplyDeleteDon't hide the mud room, it gives a slice of reality to complement the beautiful quilt!

I love it! What a fun quilt! My guild is doing the same thing but it is called a "Pizza box swap" because they were originally going to be in pizza boxes. we ended up using plastic containers. We will be done in December I believe.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome layout! I like your back to the wall mantra!
ReplyDeleteGreat blocks! I like to arrange rainbows diagonally too. Your diagonally cluster of colors is cool... :)
ReplyDeleteI love that!
ReplyDeleteThe final layout had me talking out loud to the computer screen - it's a winner!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a Block Robin for guild and had to share the idea with our guild president right away. Your blocks are so fun!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! What a fun swap!
ReplyDeleteOh what fun!
ReplyDeleteI think even with a design wall, it would take me forever to come up with that layout. I can't think of a better way to lay out those blocks. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love it, too! Your arrangement of blocks with waves of color is perfect. I also love a wonky block. You sure got a ton of them!
ReplyDeleteLove Love your scrappy block robin quilt blocks! By chance could you share your instructions included in your original box you passed around? They look somewhat free form / improv yet have a cohesive look. I always enjoy reading your blog - thanks, Beth in AL
ReplyDeleteHere a wonky, there a wonky, everywhere a wonky;) I love all the movement and color in this!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a great quilt! Even if a doggy wags too close, you've got the picture to use if you need to recreate it. Great job.
ReplyDeleteYour Block Robin sounds like a fun activity. You received some great looking blocks and I love your final layout.
ReplyDeleteI also love the idea of your round robin blocks. Making a row or a border around the blocks is a lot more work. It might also get more people involved. But love your setting : looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteThat last layout is a winner. What a fun round robin idea!
ReplyDeleteThose are wonderful. I like the last one best too!
ReplyDeleteWow! They look great together. I like the last layout. Actually I really like seeing the mud room in the background. It makes me feel normal. SAME!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful bunch of blocks! I love all that color and it works so well for your last layout there. Fun!
ReplyDeleteIt’s totally amazing - a wonderfully wonky and happy mass of blocks. The layout you selected is by far the best!
ReplyDeleteI commented earlier, but something weird happened when I hit “publish”, so I doubt it made it through. Anyway, I’m back to say again how much I love your wacky and wonderful blocks. The graduated rainbow layout is perfecto!
ReplyDeleteWinner, winner, chicken dinner!! Perfection!
