Eagle Panel and hearts = and!! NO Co Shop hop

 Happy Monday Morning!! I had a little accident over the weekend and broke my pinky nail - not like just a broken nail - like I broke it in the middle of the nail where its still attached ( I hit a saddle horn hard) and its making typing awkward!!!

I had fun tho - so its all good!

I found this Eagle Panel and I want to use it for a QOV - i had these blocks that our sew group made - so I thought about framing it . The more I look at it though - its not making my heart happy.

I had a thought!! I am making the hearts from MMMQuilts glowing Hearts QAL - what if????

and I like it - I think the stripes on the panel and the stripes in the hearts appeal to me - so this is the new direction I am going with the hearts!

NOCOShop hop is happening here: I had to go look at a horse Friday so K an I hit up Sew Downtown!

Got our passports and of course we found dinosaur fabric!! so you know that came home with me.
The quilt they are doing this year is a beauty - so we got our block pattern there too;

Saturday - I had a Quilt of Valor presentation south of us - so decided we would hit the southern stores;
The first was The Quilt Store in Broomfield - LOVE that place - a part vibe was going on....

and of course -some FQ"s a little yard and!!! the block pattern came home!!!

After that we headed to Sew Bo in boulder - that was a pretty drive and its a tiny shop. They also have a lot of garment patterns. ( been there, done that - not going back - owned a maternity clothing co for 15 years)

We decided that we must have been hungry - look what we found!!

and the last stop for the day was On Pins and Needles in Brighton. Another lovely shop , everyone was so friendly and helped my find some cool things - this was my favorite Strip package that followed me home!!

I think there are 9 more stores? so who knows what I will find!!

  1. Love the panel with the glowing hearts! Your shop hop looks like a lot of fun with getting to drive through Colorado.

  2. Those heart blocks do look great with the panel. Nice choice. Shop Hops are dangerous. I did my fist one earlier this spring. At least I stayed in budget!

  6. Hope your finger feels much better soon. I love the hearts and panel combination. Reminds me I have a patriotic panel...somewhere. The shop hop sounds like my kind of road trip!

  9. Those hearts are really pretty surrounding the eagle! I love the Quilt Store - we always stop in when we are down that way. I didn't even realize there was a shop hop going on, but visited my local shop here in Loveland twice last week, so I'll call it good!

  12. The hearts are great. I knew they would find a home in a QOV. ;) Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell. I hope your finger heals fast. Ouch!

  13. Hope that broken nail heals quickly. I like either set of blocks around the panel, but the hearts are definitely the winner. What fun fabric finds on the shop hop.

  14. Love the eagle ideas. I see you were in my old stomping grounds around Boulder. I wonder, has anyone opened a shop in Arvada, after Harriet Hargrave closed hers.

    Yes to the hearts! I was flying a kit at the beach a couple of weeks ago and the string ripped half of one of my nails off. I know how much your pinky hurts!

  16. It looks like you are doing a great job supporting quilt shops in your area. I'm trying to not buy a lot of fabric of speculation... generally I'm buying fabric for backings and then I get a good hunk to use in my piecing. I am tempted to hit up a few stores when we have our shop hop and buy something to support them.

  17. Love the panel, Alycia. I agree with you - the hearts make such a great border. Love the other blocks, but the hearts won my heart!
