I just loved the stripey of the hearts and the stripey of the panel and so...
I went for it!!
After taking its photo - I have decided to add a 3 inch white strip to the top and the bottom - that will round it out to 62 x 80 ! Perfect QOV size!!
if you are looking for the hearts - head over to MMM quilts they are called glowing hearts and she has the pattern there.
We also did day two of our Shop Hop - K and I went east!!! to Julesburg to MDQ Designs. Julesburg is not really a destination town - its a part of the Pony express - so historical - but I am not sure what else is there. Now I don't need to worry - MDQ Designs was worth the drive!
they had 5 different rooms of Fabric - and they are building on so you can have retreats there... and classes and it just looks so fun.
I found this layer cake and maybe a few more things??????
But who is counting right?
Julesburg was 2 hours from us, and then we headed south ( i think ) for bout 30 minutes to Holyoke!!
We stopped at Creative Traditions - another cute shop - and right on the main roads so easy to find. ( these are smallish towns)
All of their Quilt kits were on sale - so I might have come home with one - as well as this fabric.
K actually picked it out - I think it was his was of saying "stop buying live cows.... make a quilt!!" that had to be it right/
we stopped there for lunch and let the girls play in the park a bit:
we also found a lemonade and cookie stand!! the little kids were quite cute. We were the only people in the park and one of the girls was hollering like the peanuts and popcorn guys at a ball game - cracked me up!!
I will tell you the rest of the day tomorrow - I don't want to bore you too much!!

I'm not bored at all, love reading about your trips! I wish we could take our dogs with us; we are bad dog owners, and they are not socialized so I can imagine us trying to corral them in the car and outside.
ReplyDeleteEagle and Hearts turned out beautiful! The layers in the hearts complement the stripes in the flag. :)
Love your hearts with the eagle panel! :)
ReplyDeleteThose hearts work so well with the eagle panel. I like how all the hearts are a bit different, what a fun way to use up smaller strips. Sounds like you found some fun quilt shops to visit again when your in the mood for a road trip.
ReplyDeleteWhat cute fabric finds! Shop hops are fun! We have the Quilt Dakota shop hop beginning soon, and includes shops in both ND and SD. I think last summer I managed to get to only 12. I've heard there are 43 shops this year. The Glowing Hearts were a great choice for that QOV.
ReplyDeleteNOT boring - keep sharing!! The girls are so cute and hooray for stash infusion!
ReplyDeleteOh, the QOV top came together perfectly. And I wouldn't have been able to pass up the lemonade and cookie stand, especially with a saleswoman like that!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not bored! Very interesting day and you came home with fabric--just perfect! The lemonade stand sounds very cute and entrepreneurial!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely day! I love to visit small towns and shop at quilt stores. You find so many interesting things there. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

Oh wow, that's lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe lemonade and cookie stand scene cracked me up. . .that girl is going somewhere!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great QOV, Alycia!
ReplyDeleteNot boring, lots of interesting fun. I have nothing like you have around here, so it is very interesting.
ReplyDeleteGreat take on mmmQuilts' Glowing Hearts. What a terrific idea for those unused panels that many of us have tucked away in our stashes!
