Quilters Accountability Week 12

My March Goals were to finish all of the 5th Grade Quilts of Valor - that was a total of 9 quilts - and.... drum roll please.... all 9 of them got quilted. Yay!

*edited to make a seperate post for each of the QOV groups in 5th grade*
`
I also wanted to get Step 5 of my Carolina Christmas done - I didn't - I think this last week I didn't even sew on it, I might have ironed some pieces - but that would be it. Oh well... It will be there when I get to it. (grin)

`
My Munchkin had a birthday, and we took in treats to share. His teacher has them do a poster all about them, and he got to share it with his classmates. His favorite thing at school: Lunch. His favorite things and home - Breakfast, Dinner and Snacks!
`
We met a soldier from Ft Carson. He has been injured 3 times, and has been in the Wounded Warrior unit, but missed our quilt deliveries - so we caught up with him. Because he had recieved 3 different injuries, they are not letting him go back overseas. ( kind of makes sense to me). But a quilt was presented to him, and he LOVED it. There were tears - but I thought that would be mean to post that picture!!

Last but not least - as quilts are taking over my house I am finding some things that I will never finish. This started as a Saturday Sampler. The picture shows what is finished. There are 3 applique packs, and a picture of the final pattern, and fabric scraps from what was made. No other fabrics. If you want it, I will send it to you - just leave me a comment before Sunday night that says I want it - and a way to email you to get your address - and it is yours. If there is more that one of you that wants it - I will draw names.

Quilters Accountability Goals - I think that today I will just set goals for the next week....
Goal 1: To keep taking pictures of all the BEAUTIFUL Quilts of Valor arriving for the Warrior Games.
`
Goal 2: Bind One more 5th grade quilt.
`
I think that might be enough *grin*

Tuesdays additions

My youngest son had a birthday today - I told him not to do it - but he insisted on getting older.... so we had a little play time. I am blaming him for only nine quilt pictures for today!!
`
The first three on the right came from the SECOND HUGE box that the Indian Creek Quilters in Florida sent to me for the Warrior Games.
`
They are gorgeous. The quilting in the one with the red borders has words in it. The bottom says Thank you. Its wonderful!

These Three on the left also came from the Indian Creek Quilters. I think that must be a Very Very Busy group!!

Then the Three in the center. They came from Jane D in CT. I also showed you three of her quilts in a previous post. Jane - you do GOOD work!

These Warrior are not going to know what to think of these beautiful Creations.
`
Today was the first day that no boxes came to me, it was kind of lonely ( giggle) I wonder if the carriers missed me?
`
Take Care you all - my sons birthday cake is done.....

The Quilts are coming...

Here are some more beauties for the Warrior Games!

This Blue and White one on the right was made by Pat P at bellcreekquilts.blogspot.com. She says the pattern is called Tent Flaps by Pat Sloan. Thanks Pat - it is wonderful!!
`

These next two came from Diane in Washington. They are just beautiful.

I really like this plaid one. I like how the black makes the Plaid colors just pop out.... another color combination on my wanna make list! Thanks Diane for sending these out.

The next 3 quilts on the right came from Jane D in CT - these are just from the first box that she sent.... can't wait to open the next box too!!

All of these quilts have signatures all over them! Her husband took the quilts to some Marine functions and had them signed. What a great idea.

The last three for tonite come from Denise in Colorado. She participated in the mystery quilt that Bonnie had going on over at Quiltville. And she is much faster that I am - because her blocks made TWO Quilts of Valor... ( I am still on step 5)

I wish I knew why my pictures were upside down! But this is the third quilt from Denise.

Thank you to ALL of you - these are awesome quilts! And just so you know - they get the appropriate Ohhing and Ahhing all quilts deserve as I take them out of the boxes.

`
if they don't there is NO dinner ( wicked laugh)

All I can say is WOW!!
`
These 8 Quilts of Valor for the Warrior Games came from the Indian Creek Quilters in Florida.
`
Do you know what fun it was to lay these out in my front room?

Warrior Games Quilts of Valor for Friday

My house is a quilt palace!! I'm just sayin'.....
`
The first quilt today for the Warrior Games comes from Jan H of Az/CO. She won these blocks at her guild and then put them into this sampler quilt. She also quilted it. I have a feeling it was in some type of quilt show, because it had a label pinned to the front of it.... How awesome is that?
`
The Log Cabin Quilt of Valor comes from Nancy P in GA. It totally has the WOW factor! I hope you can click on the pictures and make them bigger to check them out. Just a beautiful log cabin.

`

`

Next comes a USA quilt ( great idea) from Cindy H in Washington. Seriously - do you know how much fun it is to see these quilts?

`

`
The next Two quilts come from Andi S in AZ. The one on the left is the Boxy Stars pattern from Bonnie at Quiltville.com.
`
The one on the right is called Freeze Frame and is found on Judy L.s blog - PatchworkTimes.com . I have this pattern on my to do list, now seeing one in person - I want to start tomorrow!!!

These two quilts came in these pillowcases... I thought they were unique!

`
Then before I wore out - I broke into the 2 huge boxes that came from the Indian Creek Quilters in FL. And here are 2 of the many that are to come. Aren't they lovely?
`
The Red and white one really pops. I love the simplicity and the beauty of it.

This one - I think- is a Dissappearing 9 Patch, but I like how they added sashings.

`

Now before you go - I got an email today and I asked if I could share it.
Alycia-
I ran on to your website just by following links, and I wanted to give you and your quilters a personal thank you for all you for our soldiers. My daughter is in the Army (MP and a sergeant ) and she will be participating in the Warrior Games in Colorado Springs. She is so excited and honored to be representing her unit! She is stationed in the WTU in Kaiserslautern Germany.

There have been so many times I wished I could just gather her in my arms to comfort her – you should know that for both parents and soldiers the love and concern that goes into your quilts is the next best thing to a hug! I hope you meet your goal of being able to give each soldier at the games a quilt – I am sooooooo not talented that way, but I will certainly pass the word on to the folks here at our local quilt shop!

Thank you all so much!

Some more WWII QOV's

You might get a kick out of this. Yesterday we had a snow day called for school, and first thing in the morning the roads were horrible, semis were crawling. But at 10 am my UPS driver showed up. I was shocked - usually when we have 10 inches of snow our road is a mess. He said it was no problem, then 30 minutes later the Fed Ex driver came up.
`
Apparently the snow wasn't as bad as we thought it was going to be, or maybe they knew how important these Quilts were!!
`
This first quilt on the top left was made by Nancy L in Washington. Isn't is cool. Thank you Nancy!! A WWII Vet is going to cherish it.

`
This star quilt ( can you say stunning!) Was made by Mavis S in Michigan. She sent this quilt to go to the WWII honor flight in honor of her Father 2nd LT John S. 5th Army Medical Corp. Mavis - he would be honored to have such a beautiful quilt dedicated to him!

`

This Not So Top Secret Quilt ( pattern at side bar) was made, and quilted by Cindy P in ME. It is beautiful, and the quilting - oh my. You do good work Cindy!

`

`
This quilt was made by Candy C in New york and quilted by Nancy S in Florida. A great combination if I do say so myself.

`
And the last WWII Quilt of Valor was made by Emily in FL, and quilted by Nancy in Fl. I believe it is a pineapple quilt, and have seen the pattern on Quiltville.com It is quite lovely.

`
Thank you ALL so much for these quilts. They are appreciated!

Quilters Accountability Week 11

This last week of accountability fell in the middle of spring break! So in between entertaining my children -( or were they entertaining me?) I actually did get some "stuff" done!.
`
First on The Quilt of Valor Front... I got another 5th grade quilt quilted. And I quilted a quilt sent to me from Patsy M of the Pueblo West Quilters in Pueblo CO. It will get bound this weekend and then be ready for the Warrior Games.

`
Next - I wanted to get a Baby Quilt done for my cousin who is in the process of adopting a little girl. They have her, and are on their way back. I surprised even myself - and I finished the quilt. It is even bound! I used lavendar minkee on the back and now I think I want it for myself.... (for some reason the picture is upside down)
`

And the last thing that I have been working on this month - step 5 of the Carolina Crossroads. It is by no means finished, but I think I have a good start on step 5.

So all in all I think that progress is being made?

For a couple of our spring break days we just hung around the house in the day, then hit the gym in the afternoon. The oldest still had swim practice - no rest for High schoolers!
`
So we played Wii. We had issues splitting the TV in half - so we marked it with tape!!!

`
We spent a day at the Denver Museum - again getting home in time for swim practice. Just in case you ever wondered what Wrangler Man looks like, here he is all cleaned up. I was trying to horn in on the picture - not sure it worked to my favor tho!!
`
We spent some time at the target range. Both ours, and the 4-H one. Ours was much more fun, the sun was shining. When we headed to the 4-H range the temps had dropped from 65 to 30, and the snow was moving in.

`
And last - but defineatly not least we headed up to Cameron Pass and went SnowShoeing. It was a heck of a climb, and I now think a "moderate" trail should be for tough people - not wimps like me. We climbed for 2 whole miles, it was nuts!
`
So beautiful though. It had snowed the day before so everything was just clean and pristine. I was surprised that it was so windy at the top, but during the climb the wind didn't bother us at all.
`

well - thats all for me. Today was a snow day as a huge storm moved in last night. So this morning I did chores in about 10 inches of snow, and tonite I did them in mud. It got up to 40 deg today. A great day to have a snow day!! We LOVED it!
`
Head on over to Bari's to see what others are up to

Whoa Doggies - are you all keeping my Post office people hopping! Bet ya never thought about that did you? I have my OWN shelf at the post office - how cool is that!!
`
Here are the latest quilts that have arived for the Warrior Games. All I can say is AWESOME.
`
The first quilt on the left came from Jody and the Bingham Ladies Fellowship in Nebraska. Thanks ladies!

The next two come from Linda A in Texas. She read my blog about the games and finished up these two quilts. Linda - They are beautiful., I especially love the border with the gold around it. That had to be time consuming!!

`
This one with the yellow ribbon - comes from the Reverse Curves Quilters in New York. It is fabulous!

These Next Two quilts come from Jill K - and I forgot to write down where she is from - but she is AWESOME! These quilts -oh boy - you gotta know that I LOVE seeing all the beauties that everyone comes up with. And these totally fit that category.

I just imagine the looks on the service peoples faces when they get a good look at their Quilts of Valor.

Thank you all so much for your hard work!!
