Twirling at the Disco Top ... and Finished (or not) Friday

Happy Almost Friday!!!

I am getting this in a little early this week as the computer is freed up at the moment - so I am claiming it - haha!!

I finished my Twirling at the Disco top this week - it is such a fun top, and a great way to use those 2 1/2 inch squares I have been cutting... I almost have ran out of them!  ( just the squares, not 2 1/2 inch strips)

With my little border it measures 70 x 70 - so will be perfect for a Quilt of Valor. Funny enough - I had another plan for the border, and then couldn't find what I was looking for. So now that the top is finished - I will probably find what I am looking for ... and then! Will have to make a whole nother quilt!  Such is the life of a quilter right?

I also made masks - I was surprised at how many people emailed me and said I needed to add a tutorial to my blog and promote the making of masks. Not to be snarky - but there are like a million tutorials out there - and I truly did not think another one was necessary - I knew that everyone is pretty internet savvy  - they could find one that worked for them. So I apologize for not linking to one... but.. they are out there ;-)

These are some from the last batches - the firemen ones were specifically for my Dad - a Retired Fire Chief.

In spite of all the mask making - I hope you got some quilty time in too! or at least enjoyed your mask making moments! ha ha!!

Now link up to your finishes from this week - show me what you've got! What got you groovin' this week?

Your twirling at the disco inspired me. I am making a 5inch square version that should reach top stage this weekend. It doesn’t take long with such big blocks.

yes there are tons of tutorials already out that and a waste of our time to put more out there - I agree with you. Just yesterday I must have seen two more being shared! I also think most of us are tired of making masks and just want to quilt in our self isolation time!!

Now that's a very cool way to use up all of those scrappy squares! Nice top!

Wonderful flimsy finish! I'm putting this on my list of scrap quilts to make for sure; it's terrific. Thanks for sharing~ Happy Easter!

I feel the same way about mask tutorials! Every time I turn around there's another one! My daughter and I came up with our own version that combines several different mask designs. Anyway, thankfully there are many people who are filling the demand! By the way...you are not being snarky!

Wonderful job on that quilt! The masks do take time and I try to keep a batch going! This week I am all about what’s on my list for the future! Gotta sew today, was away from it for 2 days....horrors!

What a great design, Alycia! You're going to have a wonderful pile of QOV to hand out to veterans when this whole virus thing dies down. Let's pray that's sooner than later!
So many are doing such a great job making masks and I can't even get to the sewing machine. ):

LOVE that quilt top, Alycia!! Do I spy Little Bit serving as Quilt Holder Extraordinaire? I bet he didn't even complain about the task (for fear that you wouldn't feed him supper!)

Your Twirling at the Disco is awesome, but now I can't wait to see what the border was going to be... and what it will be on instead! Thank you for making masks. It gets boring after a lot of them, but I know they are appreciated.

Your quilt looks great. There are definitely a lot of mask tutorials out there -- it's overwhelming, but I think I have found two that I will stick with. Stay safe.

Great quilt. I've only been sewing masks. My little guild has been providing masks for several different nurses at several hospitals. Now we've been asked to make them for hospice nurses and patients. The hospice is providing kits (good thing since they want elastic, and they also have elastic). One of these days I'll get some quilting done.

I love your Twirling At the Disco top! Such a strong Americana vibe, like a 4th of July picnic from way back when Corona just meant BEER!

No, I did not enjoy mask-making moments. Silly you. I don't have elastic and cannot find it anywhere now. The ties take forever tout, press, repress, stitch and restitch. ARGH!!! But I Am done. Made for family members. No, not making any more. On the upside your Twirling Disco flimsy is dancing int he breeze. I have to keep that pattern in mind for Bernie's Merciful Quilts. Stay safe my friend. Sending hugs from afar!!!
