So...... Last night was weird.

I mean really, really, weird.....

We had spent the day here:

  ( More on that later)

we came home in the dusk, Did chores as it got darker, and kept noticing these really weird clouds. (Which of Course I did not take a photo of)

We hadn't been in the house for 5 minutes and the phones started ringing.... Our neighbors asking if we were okay. I am thinking, how did they know I walked my rear off, and worked, and needed wine?   So I say - sure - what's up?

Umm.... have you looked out your window?

Nope - and so I do - Oh My Gosh - the East was on fire!  And of course, they tell me the fire is moving west. Do we need help?

I immediately thought of the ranchers who I know that live between us and that fire - and called her. They were on evacuation notice.... so I figured we ought to be ready.

The boys grabbed their computers, i-pods, and action figures.  They were on top of things!!

Now - we mow a perimeter around all our outbuildings, the house ( of course) and the corrals. So we were sort of gauging what would need to be done, moved, and loaded.  And if we could add water to the mix of things to keep the fire down?

At the same time watching the flames..... as they.... got smaller, and smaller, and finally died out.

Another Call to my friend - she said they had it mostly out, and would be watching for the hot spots.

Shew..... So today... you know where we are headed right?  Got to go check out what burned, and how it started, and maybe gawk a little......

And here is my question for the day?

I have been tracking my calories in each day - If I didn't get my glass of wine until 1 am - does it count for today's calories? Or yesterdays??  This is a tough question you know!

After a day like that... it doesn't count as anything!
So glad to hear the ending of the story was good!

I am thinking....after midnight? before 5am? Maybe you dreamed it...so it does not count. Hehehehehehe

You burned all those wine calories with fire worry so you get that one free!

No calories for either day, you burned them all off when your anxiety level spiked to 872,354.

So glad the fire didn't come your way. Sounds like you and your boys were well prepared anyway.
About calories (I track mine, too) - For me, anything consumed between one overnight sleep and the next all counts in the same day, even if some of it occurs after midnight.

Oh my goodness. Much excitement, but not in a good way. Sounds like nobody was hurt though, and that is a good thing. I think the wine should be free given the circumstances. The adrenaline probably burned off at least that much.

I would count it as yesterday...from sleep to sleep, right? You must live in Washington or Idaho...from the farm here in eastern Washington, it seems as though both states are burning! So much smoke in the air where there isn't actual fire...so many have lost so much and there are no more fire fighters, leaving some fires to just burn themselves out. Incredibly sad. I know in my little pocket of Washington, we have been very blessed so far, with the fires being put out quickly, with little damage.

Scary stuff!! Thank goodness you guys are OK!!! Question... couldn't you smell the smoke???

I'm sure you needed the calories from the wine after an adrenaline rush from the fire! So they don't count at all! Glad it was put out quickly. This has been a bad year for fires, we had another one in our area a few days ago but they put it out that day.

You should have had two glasses of wine and it wouldn't have been a problem!

Please be careful out there! That is really scary! All the horses including my girl ok?

It doesn't count. In fact, have a twofer. The situation requires extra calming properties. So glad you're all OK.

How scary! Glad that it died out before it got to far. It's been such a bad fire year.

On the wine, I wouldn't count it at all, you probably came out even with all the calories you burned with your evacuation prep.
