Pineapple Plaid Quilt

This - I believe is Number 5 .... 5 plaid quilts and I still have stash to sew with -

I should not be surprised!!

Here it is - in all of it's unbound glory.

I quilted each block with Circles and spikes and gave it a fun look - that of course, is totally hidden in the plaids - But I sure had fun quilting it - so it's all good!

I had it all laid out in the front room with the idea of getting it bound right then, and then.... I started to wonder what would bring the colors of the plaid out?  It is a little Muddied - with browns and plaids..... so maybe Black?  Or Maroon?

So I have been contemplating this all week....I believe this might be another reason the binding always slows me down..... Sigh.....

If you have any binding already made, that is always the perfect color. Lots of things would be great on this quilt.

Plaids are my favorite, and I LOVE this quilt! :)

I wish I lived near you - I'd gladly do all your bindings for you in exchange for long arm quilting!
I've heard it said that when in doubt about binding color, go with the darkest shade used in the quilt. This has worked for me on scrappy quilts, so your suggestion to use black should work well.

I would do that blue, it really pops with all of the nuetral colors.

I like the idea of black. There is quite a bit in the quilt so it might draw it out and make it pop? ~ Denise in Canada

Alycia, I'm definitely no expert on bindings, but I would use something close to your darkest plaid fabric - is it black? I like to frame the quilt with my binding and I think the black would do it.

I'd consider joining all left over 2" strips with a diagonal seam to cover the perimeter, sew it on, and call it scrappy. Scrappy is good! A finished quilt is better!!! Thanks for sharing.

I start by measuring. Most of my fabrics are smaller pieces that won't work for binding anyway. Then I usually just pick a color (or the same fabric) from the border or a block in the quilt. You could drive yourself to drink trying out different choices.
Hope this helps.

love it! I always have to audition binding fabrics, it might be blue, dark green, black or bright yellow. For me, is' usually a surprise. Can't wait to see what you choose...

Here is my secret to getting bindings chosen...if it fits, it is stitched!

Love your quilt. I am jealous of all the great plaid scraps you have been sewing with lately! And thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!

What an awesome quilt. I would bind it in whatever color you want to draw out. For me that would be the green. But I don't think any of these suggestions would steer you wrong. (Just don't use hot pink;)
