around the place

Every once in a while I get a bug that things should look different. So 2 years ago we decided we should paint our *other house*. Its not really another house, but back in the day was attached to our mobile home.  We live in that while we saved money to build our house, and of course out grew the 780 square feet rather quickly.  Wrangler Man calls it the shed.

But I figured we could call it a barn if it was the right color. So we have kind of argued for a while ( 2 years) over what color it should be. This summer the boys and I went to buy paint - without mentioning it to Wrangler man and this is what he came home to:

Well - first - this is it - all grey like and primer colored, and weathering.....

Here we got started - I  got the job of painting around the windows first - so if there was a boo boo it was my fault!

This was the shady wall - it was done FIRST!

I loved making the kids climb up and down the ladder!
And the spots were pretty much the end of the first day.

And Ta Da.....

I think it needs a quilt block next. So we have been submitting our designs. The made at Home Depot said he could cut me a 4ft by 4ft square and we could paint it.  What kind of block do you think would look the best? I am thinking a star or spinny type block .....

My husband and I both had barns in our previous lives, along with much-loved memories of those barns but we live in town now, no barn, but we DO continue to call our garage "the barn". 8-))

Yes, it still needs a quilt block! I'll be any kind of block would look good on that side of your 'barn'. 8-))

Definitely a blue and white star with maybe a little bit of gold/yellow.....

Definitely a blue and white star with just a touch of red (inside away from the red walls) to make this a QOV barn!

Not certain what design but QOV colors do seem appropriate. Just remember to seal both sides of the board so that it will last a long time. Love the red!!!

How about "Contrary Wife"? LOL!

or "Hole in the Barn Door"

I think it looks much better red, and you were definitely right!

A barn quilt! How exciting!!!

I have a shed out back and want to make me a barn quilt too! Just need to commit to helping me mount it securely and I'm off and running...

How about a pinwheel using blue and white? It could "blow" in the wind.....:) Love the "shed/barn" paint job!

How about a sunflower block? Quilts of Valor spread a lot of sunshine!

The colors should be RWB in honor of our Vets, but I thought (humorously) that you should make the block be the "monkey wrench", since I'm sure you put a monkey wrench in Wrangler Man's thoughts about any color he was contemplating. lol

I love it!! And...while I was going thru the photos, I was thinking...there would be the perfect place for a quilt block! I'm all for a blue and white 'something' to emphasize all the great work you do with QOVs! I have a small barn in my back yard...had a HUGE one on the ranch...and I plan to put a quilt block on each end of this little barn...it's on my 'to do' list!
